I was born and raised in a Dairy Queen!! My mom and dad bought the Dairy Queen in Show Low Arizona 3 months before I was born. This was their first business venture. They already had 3 boys and just finished building their own home. Timing was perfect lol My mom would put blankets in the ice cream crates and I would play in them while she would work. I remember the bus stopping on the main road of our town and everyone having to stop so I could jump out at the DQ. As I got older it was the coolest flex to take my friends there and eat for “free”!! What I remember most are the remodels, cleaning the ice cream machines, my mom “pr’ing” with people when I was in the back hustling the grill with my 50 year old best friend Betty ❤️ I truly appreciate the opportunity my parents gave me and my brothers to learn to run a business. We also had to work hard and that was good!! My parents sold the DQ in November of 2019 and moved up to Utah where all their kids live now.

Show Low? I’m from Springerville…lol I remember stopping at that DQ. What a small world. Some of my family members worked at the one in Springerville/Eager. 😊

Such an impactful part of our childhood. Every Saturday instead of being able to watch cartoons we had to go down to the DQ and clean, sanitize and re-lubricate the ice cream machines before the 10am opening. But it was a blast heating up the frier, pounding onion rings and fries and listening to adult contemporary hits from the 80's and 90s. I did that Saturday job until I left town at 19!

I used to go to that DQ with my grandpa before he passed away. He had a little place in Pinetop/Lakeside. Tell your parents thanks for the memories built with him while nursing and Reese's Pieces and Heath bar blizzard from their shop.

So cool. My family is the Whitings. The Whiting Homestead just outside of St Johns. Went there a lot as a kid. Show low is a cool town.

SOOOO many memories. What an amazing example we had and how much I lean on the simple yet profound lessons we learned. Some great pics ❤️. I can still hear you yelling at Betty in the grill, she was the best!

Every family I know that grew up owning and running a DQ has second generation entrepreneurs that are killing it. So much so that I almost bought a DQ myself! Great story Sean.
