Bervina's Silicon timing belt has been a game-changer in the VFFS technology industry since its creation in 1997. The revolutionary product was born out of necessity when the unavailability of lynatex led to the creation of a silicon on a PU timing belt. Despite initial reservations, the product was showcased at Hannover Messe in 2000, and Bosch India became the first company to buy it through a local distributor. Schaeffler plans to invest $230 million to build a factory in Ohio On February 26th, German parts supplier Schaeffler announced that it will spend approximately $230 million to build a factory in Ohio to produce electric vehicle parts. The project is expected to begin construction in the middle of this year. Schaeffler is a German technology company that provides high-precision components and systems covering the entire powertrain and chassis application, as well as industrial rolling and sliding bearing solutions. Schaeffler Group had a sales revenue of approximately 12.6 billion euros in 2020 and currently has approximately 83300 employees, making it a large family business worldwide. At the Schorndorf-based distribution centre of MAHLE Aftermarket (the spare parts and services division of the leading automotive supplier MAHLE), around 2,200 pallets are taken in and sent out every day. In total, this amounts to circa 1.5 pallets moved per second. With so much transportation to be done, the on-site material flow must be aligned and optimized for maximum efficiency – and this includes, of course, also the choice of the right energy system! Together with STILL, MAHLE Aftermarket equipped most of its large fleet with lithium-ion batteries. On the one hand, these are more powerful than lead-acid batteries. On the other hand, they allow for quicker and more flexible charging as well as cleaner and more secure handling. For the MAHLE Aftermarket team, this means – among others – that they no longer have contact with toxic fumes and acids, and that they also must no longer bother with water refills and battery changes. Normally, a fully charged li-ion battery lasts for a complete shift. And if an energy boost is needed anyway, it can be done efficiently and easily in the break, for example. One of the biggest challenges for warehousing and logistics companies today is space – because there is simply never enough of it!
