We offer our customers innovative and sustainable technologies for different applications. In order to develop products with an improved carbon footprint, we at Schaeffler look at the entire life cycle, from production to transport and use through to disposal. By adapting the product design and the selected materials as well as new processes, we continuously improve the CO₂ values in the product development phase. 🌱 For example, Schaeffler is continuously working on solutions for optimizing friction characteristics and extending the operating life of rolling bearings. By remanufacturing such bearings, it is possible to save up to 90 percent of CO₂ emissions compared to the production of a new bearing, as well as time and costs. Circular economy saves resources: Schaeffler wants to reuse raw materials, components, and products in a sustainable manner if possible. During the design phase, we already use the opportunities offered with regard to the efficiency of materials, the reduced use of critical or rare raw materials, and the longer operating life and repairability of products wherever economically feasible. ♻ How do we do this? Supply chain emissions (Scope 3) are one of the biggest obstacles to Net Zero. That’s why I am so delighted that AESSEAL and DMG MORI have taken a small, but possibly historic, step to cut the energy needed for cutting-edge machine tools used in the UK, Europe, and many other countries. People do business with people and I am privileged to have had the support of Dr Masahiko Mori, the President of DMG Mori. He told us: “DMG Mori are proud members of Betterworld Solutions as we were fully committed to sharing environmental best practice, to make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren. Chris gave us a great chance to change to 400V”. In return, I must acknowledge that without Dr Mori’s personal commitment this would probably never have happened. In a global first, the Japanese plant of DMG Mori has supplied AESSEAL in Rotherham’s Factory for the Future with around £4 million pounds worth of energy-friendly machine tools designed to work directly at European standard voltages, avoiding a wasteful transformation step. This was not a small change, but it made complete sense in line with both company’s commitment as part of the Betterworld.Solutions project, to prioritize environmentally-friendly investment. https://lnkd.in/e9NMDhZH

#Industry | To cut their energy consumption and environmental impact down, our industries need to take the turn towards decarbonization and sobriety by adopting more virtuous models. That's why we need to develop the efficiency of our industrial chain through : ➡️ More efficient production processes thanks to new technologies such as automation and digitalization ➡️ The implementation of controlled purchasing practices for components and other procurements (energy, buildings, external services, etc.) ➡️ Limit other environmental impacts on production sites (mobility, waste, etc.) By developing our production processes in a holistic approach, we have the opportunity to manage both ecological transition and development objectives. However, we believe that these processes will generate the most sustainable and profitable growth only if they serve positive impact markets with useful, eco-designed products. This is why LACROIX is commited to this trajectory to reduce our carbon footprint 🌍 🔗 To read the article: https://bit.ly/4asELPE
