#figma disabled it’s ‘make design’ feature released earlier this month at #config Figma CEO Dylan Field says the company will temporarily disable its “Make Design” AI feature that was said to be ripping off the designs of Apple’s own Weather app. Interesting this- AI generated images and Ui can’t ever be ‘original’ simply because it is pulling data from a range of sources to create an ‘original copy’. So whatever will be generated using this feature will by default be trained on existing components. The only thing that can be ensured is that the model generates greater variables creating only a perception of the outputs not being a direct ‘rip off’. Basically it’s always going a rip off - directly (in this case) or indirectly. Thoughts? #design #figma #ai

🚨 **Figma's "Make Design" AI Feature Temporarily Disabled!** 🚨 🌟 At the recent Config conference, Figma introduced a game-changing feature - "Make Design" AI. It generates UI layouts and components from text inputs to speed up your design process. Sounds amazing, right? 🤩 However, we've hit a snag. Andy Allen from NotBoring Software noticed that this AI tool was consistently mirroring Apple's Weather app designs. 😬 This raised some eyebrows in the design community. Figma's CEO, Dylan Field, acknowledged the issue, stressing the importance of thorough quality checks. 🛠️ He assured that the feature will stay disabled until a complete quality assessment is done. Apple hasn't commented on this yet, but this incident really underscores the challenges in balancing #Innovation with #QualityControl in AI development. ⚖️ Stay tuned for more updates! 📡 #Figma #AI #UIDesign #TechNews #Apple #DesignCommunity #QualityAssurance

🤔 I recently discussed with a friend the impact of new tools in architecture, pointing out how the quality of work has decreased as the speed of production has increased. Now, I just came across this post. Striking a balance between production speed and thorough research is crucial. #figma #AI
Welp, that didn't last long. Figma's new AI design tool is on pause after accidentally generating designs too similar to Apple's weather app. Looks like AI still needs a lesson in originality. #design #AI #figma

Figma recently decided to disable its AI feature due to several concerns from its users. Many designers were worried about the privacy of their data, fearing that sensitive information could be misused or leaked. Additionally, the AI wasn’t always reliable, sometimes producing inconsistent results that could negatively impact their work. A specific issue that arose was the AI's tendency to design screens resembling Apple's Weather app. Figma wants to ensure that users feel safe and confident in the tools they use, so they pulled the AI feature to address these issues. They're working on improving the AI to ensure it meets high standards of quality, versatility, and ethical use before they consider bringing it back. #Aifault #figma # #DesignDisaster https://lnkd.in/giVHGNVw

So... What Had Happened Was... Figma's new AI "Make Design" feature got caught playing copycat with Apple's Weather app!🤦🏾♀️ Full article here: https://lnkd.in/gSYS8iqk If you ask me I’d say Generative AI dramatically changes the scope of Quality Assurance. In the past QA focused on whether the product worked to a set of defined requirements, but in the the field of writing, design and many other fields, pledgerization is a Sev0 bug which Generative AI doesn’t know how to identify— yet. To progress the scope of Trustworthy Generative AI we need to have the ability to push the output through Intellectual Property checkers to identify source material in the work for not just written works, but all forms of generative output. Those sources should be tagged so the user of the output knows the sources of that work. The user then becomes responsible if they use something which is pledgerizing. The world of intellectual property is rapidly changing because of AI - who’s building for that? Holla at cha girl! E’hem, that means “talk to me about it”. 😅 Anyway, at the end of the day Figma responded rapidly by disabling the feature to go back to the drawing board. What do you think about the use of AI in design? How can we ensure AI assists the creative process rather than stealing other peoples IP? #AI #DesignTech #EthicalAI #Innovation #TrustworthyAI

Figma is a tremendous tool for designers and I love it—but I have a concern: Last week, it came out that Figma's “Make Design” AI feature created a design eerily similar to Apple’s Weather app. After many expressed worries about the AI's training, Figma temporarily disabled the feature, giving users until August 15th to opt out of allowing their content to be used for such training. In accordance with our confidentiality policies, Scoresby has opted out of allowing our content to be used for AI training—and we’re recommending our clients do the same. Whether you are a designer or exec at a company that uses Figma: ● How are you handling this? ● What policies are you putting in place to protect proprietary content? ________________ Articles for Reference: https://lnkd.in/gf4rzR95 https://lnkd.in/gxx_GGqW #Figma #AI #Design

Figma just dropped some interesting features! A lot of companies who use AI for design has been a bit meh so far in my opinion, so it will be interesting to see Figma's take on it! What are your thoughts on this? https://lnkd.in/e7wbtckz #ConFig24 #FigmaAI #Figa #AI

Must-watch for any Product/UX designer. A projection into how design processes will be improved thanks to AI. It is very interesting for me to watch the impact of the generative AI. When I studied Artificial Intelligence 10+ years ago, as students we were dreaming about assistants that would generate ideas for solutions as co-creators in any kind of design process. Now we are living this dream. I'm curios how the software will be designed by product teams, if we are moving in abstractions layers up, thanks to AI. https://lnkd.in/ewemkS-E
