Well I feel privileged to be the Navtech story for #iwd2024 As Women, we have got to where we are because woman have spoken up and raised awareness, so here is the bit I feel really passionate about..... In recent news I have seen an increased negative perception regarding the impact of having a working mum in a team. Articles recently include quotes from other woman in business saying they have to pick up the slack for the Mums who need to leave early for school runs, parents evening, want school holidays off and the lists of apparent failures go on (one article I saw was horrendous). They are not wrong that often we ( and working Dad's) have to accommodate some of those activities and will often prioritise our children over the job and yes that will sometimes have an impact on the people that we work with. Here's why I think (in most cases) it is a void issue: I am only the leader I am today because of becoming a parent, it has made me the best version of myself and I will fight for my team nearly as much as I would fight for my kids. I am less selfish now as a Mum I can cope with an insane to do list and not feel overwhelmed because at home that is the norm. I will always make up the time because of the guilt of letting people down- you cannot beat us up more than we beat ourselves up. I can adapt to nearly all crisis situations at work because at home there are daily mini crisis's going on. Need me on a call at stupid O'clock in the morning - no problem for 2 years I had 4 hours sleep a night and got woken up at 4am. And the list goes on....! Navtech (in my opinion) get added value from me because I am a parent and I wholeheartedly thank the team I work with and the company, for supporting me to be the best Mum I can be, so that I can then turn up at work and be the best team member I can be. #workingmums #lifteachotherup #awesometeam #parentsatwork #iwd2024 #wearthatcrown
