As we observe Construction Safety Week in our construction community, it’s truly an important time to reflect on the evolution of safety standards— from mere rules to fundamental principles that define our culture. As someone who has grown up in the construction industry, I've witnessed firsthand the transformation in how we approach safety. It’s deeply ingrained not just in what we do, but in who we are. At Mortenson, we take pride in our leadership role in fostering a safety culture that empowers every individual on every job site. We believe that everyone has a valuable voice and that we thrive when trust and openness spread throughout our ranks. It's about being willing to listen, learn, and voice new ideas, especially when they contribute to our zero-tolerance policy on compromising safety. Here are some straightforward ways each of us can contribute to sustaining a culture of safety, no matter our role: 🚧 Speak Up: Never hesitate to voice concerns or suggestions regarding safety. If something seems unsafe or if there’s a new method that could enhance safety, bring it forward. Your input is invaluable. 🚧 Stay Informed: Always be aware of the latest safety protocols and participate actively in safety training sessions. Knowledge is not only power—it's protection. 🚧 Look Out for Each Other: Safety is a team effort. Watch out for your teammates' well-being just as you would your own. If you see someone working in an unsafe manner, be proactive and offer a gentle reminder of safe practices. 🚧 Embrace Safety Gear: Always use the proper safety gear for your tasks. This is non-negotiable and a simple way to prevent many types of injuries. 🚧 Lead by Example: Whether you’re on the ground or in management, lead by example. Adhering strictly to safety practices encourages others to follow suit. 🚧 Foster an Open Environment: Encourage a workplace where safety discussions are an integral part of the daily routine, not just a checkbox on a to-do list. Safety isn’t just another responsibility—it's a cornerstone of our community at Mortenson. It’s everyone’s job, and by committing to it, we not only protect ourselves, but we also safeguard our fellow workers and contribute to the overall success of our projects. Together, let’s keep building a safer environment where everyone can perform at their best. Happy Safety Week, friends! #safetyfirstlast&always #dotherightthing #leadblualways

What numbers have you practiced within this 6 month span of 2024?
This year I challenged #womeninconstruction to exercise one word. One simple word, a single noun. The word is Audacity, and I hope you’ve been actively using it. The assignment was to have the Audacity to do the things: 1. Start your own venture. 2. Leave the job you despise. 3. Not pour from an empty cup. 4. Ask for your worth. 5. Refuse to be the only one in the room. 6. Advocate for yourself and other women. 7. Seek out the leadership roles. 8. Help other women even if you were left behind. 9. Ask for the help you need. 10. Connect with someone doing what you desire to do. 11. Be okay with transitioning from entrepreneur to employee. 12. Not begrudge another for work you did not do. 13. Be proud of your wins, accomplishments, or expertise. 14. Refuse to lose faith in the midst of the storm. 15. Find your tribe or Create one. 16. Rest without guilt. 17. Say NO. 18. Collaborate, do not hate. 19. Starve your imposter syndrome. 20. Feel your feelings then move forward. 21. Believe that what you want, wants you. 22. Attract spaces where you are celebrated. 23. Know that true leadership doesn’t require a title. 24. Do the freakin' thing, Scared. We’re six months into 2024, have you been Audacious?

Last night, I had the distinct pleasure of attending Venture Cafe with the esteemed Taiwanese delegation, and Startup Island TAIWAN. It was truly inspiring to connect with so many innovative and kind individuals. In the wake of TSMC, LG, and other prominent Asian companies establishing an advanced manufacturing hub in Arizona, we are witnessing a wave of new innovators and visionaries joining the effort in the Bioscience Industry. A heartfelt thank you to the Taiwanese Delegation, Startup Island Taiwan, and all those who made the journey to share such a delightful evening. Living in Phoenix and being at the forefront of significant change and growth is an exciting experience. Five years ago, when I moved to Phoenix, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to meet such remarkable individuals working on groundbreaking projects. Phoenix is indeed flourishing. Here’s to the continued growth of The Valley! Taiwanese companies, such as TSMC, are global leaders in semiconductor manufacturing, with TSMC alone producing over 50% of the world's semiconductors. Taiwan's dedication to innovation and excellence has positioned it as a pivotal player in the global tech industry. Beyond their technological achievements, the Taiwanese culture is rich with vibrant traditions, delectable cuisine, and a warm, hospitable spirit that was palpable during the delegation’s visit. Arizona's growth trajectory has been equally impressive. The state has become a hub for advanced manufacturing and technology, attracting substantial investments and top-tier talent. Arizona’s pro-business environment, skilled workforce, and strategic location make it an ideal place for industry leaders. The Greater Phoenix area, in particular, has seen a surge in development, making it an exciting place to live and work.

City of Goodyear is on the verge of gaining a beautiful and well thought out Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers this June. Women in Healthcare - Phoenix Chapter got a sneak peek while the finishing touches were getting buttoned up. SmithGroup, you have impressed me. The brand image was executed flawlessly: Modern cancer care with clean and elegant forms, and bold architecture moves that integrate the infusion suites with natural light, views, and connection to the landscape design. Just gorgeous!! Congratulations to everyone involved. This brings a new feel to healing to the west side. 🫶🏼
