Empowering others to reach higher and explore their full potential one day at a time!

As we observe Construction Safety Week in our construction community, it’s truly an important time to reflect on the evolution of safety standards— from mere rules to fundamental principles that define our culture. As someone who has grown up in the construction industry, I've witnessed firsthand the transformation in how we approach safety. It’s deeply ingrained not just in what we do, but in who we are. At Mortenson, we take pride in our leadership role in fostering a safety culture that empowers every individual on every job site. We believe that everyone has a valuable voice and that we thrive when trust and openness spread throughout our ranks. It's about being willing to listen, learn, and voice new ideas, especially when they contribute to our zero-tolerance policy on compromising safety. Here are some straightforward ways each of us can contribute to sustaining a culture of safety, no matter our role: 🚧 Speak Up: Never hesitate to voice concerns or suggestions regarding safety. If something seems unsafe or if there’s a new method that could enhance safety, bring it forward. Your input is invaluable. 🚧 Stay Informed: Always be aware of the latest safety protocols and participate actively in safety training sessions. Knowledge is not only power—it's protection. 🚧 Look Out for Each Other: Safety is a team effort. Watch out for your teammates' well-being just as you would your own. If you see someone working in an unsafe manner, be proactive and offer a gentle reminder of safe practices. 🚧 Embrace Safety Gear: Always use the proper safety gear for your tasks. This is non-negotiable and a simple way to prevent many types of injuries. 🚧 Lead by Example: Whether you’re on the ground or in management, lead by example. Adhering strictly to safety practices encourages others to follow suit. 🚧 Foster an Open Environment: Encourage a workplace where safety discussions are an integral part of the daily routine, not just a checkbox on a to-do list. Safety isn’t just another responsibility—it's a cornerstone of our community at Mortenson. It’s everyone’s job, and by committing to it, we not only protect ourselves, but we also safeguard our fellow workers and contribute to the overall success of our projects. Together, let’s keep building a safer environment where everyone can perform at their best. Happy Safety Week, friends! #safetyfirstlast&always #dotherightthing #leadblualways
