When we think of bold and vibrant, the richly coloured chameleon 🦎, which is the July image in our AI calendar, immediately comes to mind. Printed with a spot glass textured Scodix finish, to make it truly stand out. Forests play a crucial role, providing habitat for approximately 80% of terrestrial plant and animal species. They are the most diverse ecosystems on land. At Sappi, we’re deeply committed to conserving biodiversity and restoring nature 🌎. To achieve this, we’ve set aside and meticulously maintain approximately 135,000 hectares of land through Sappi Forests. These areas preserve natural habitats and the incredible biodiversity they harbour, including indigenous forests and wetlands. #ShapesOfSappi

Only 10% of our land in the UK is woodland, with only 2.5% of this being ancient woodland. Ancient woodlands are even more special, with a rich biodiversity network. These habitats are home to many threatened species, making them irreplaceable! Some of our ancient woodlands are extremely diverse for epithetic bryophytes (mosses that grow on trees). This is unique to ancient woodlands! Take a look at these scarlet elf cups nestled on moss captured by Tasha, our Biodiversity Officer (Woodlands), below. If you want to know more about the biodiversity that inhabits a semi natural ancient woodland, join us on the 5th and 6th July for our annual Bioblitz. Everyone is welcome, regardless of your skills and biodiversity knowledge: https://bit.ly/44RsvpA Photo description Scarlet elf cups growing on a bed of moss, surrounded by leaf litter. #Fungi #Moss #LocalWildlifeSite #AncientWoodlands #Biodiversity #BiodiversityDay

Did you know that forest ecosystems are home to more than 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity? A huge number of animals, plants, and other organisms live in forest ecosystems. For example, forests are home to insects, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, trees, flowers, mosses, fungi, and more. All of these different organisms form complex ecosystems that support each other and help the forest thrive. The more diverse a forest is, the healthier it is! #Ecosystemgeneration #Generationrestoration #naturepositiveuniversities

Today is the International Day of Forests, and we're taking a moment to celebrate the incredible natural landscapes that cover our planet. Brazil's forests are a perfect example of this wonder, with its immense biodiversity and vitality. A reminder of how essential forests are to sustaining life on Earth. This photo is a representation of the delicate balance within these ecosystems. Each tree is a sentinel, guarding the forest's secrets while providing shelter to countless species. It is a reminder of how everything in the forest is connected and that every living organism plays a crucial part in the complicated web of life. Buraco das Araras, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. I think it's time we stop thinking of #TreePlanting as the panacea for our planetary woes, because - like the evolution of all life on Earth - it’s a bit more complicated than that. While well-intentioned, quantifying the number of trees planted to offset carbon emissions isn’t working. Rather, we should be QUALIFYING tree planting efforts by ensuring these efforts are part of a more holistic approach to ecosystem restoration, one that focuses on bringing back biodiversity in both plant AND animal species. https://lnkd.in/gt5Qu_gk #treeplanting #carbonsequestration #carbonoffset

It's unbelievable that 16,118 species are listed as Endangered [WWF]. Did you know that trees play a vital role in forest ecosystems, providing habitat for half of the world's terrestrial species? Our partnership with Ecologi | B Corp™ supports reforestation projects globally, with over 70 million trees planted through their partnerships overall. Personally, GreenZone ourselves have funded the planting of 1,010 trees in the African landscape - contributing to the ecosystem that is so integral to the survival of species, endangered and otherwise. “Exploring the extraordinary world of Eristalis tenax, commonly known as the drone fly—a marvel of nature’s ingenuity. These humble insects, often mistaken for bees, play a crucial role as pollinators, contributing to the delicate balance of ecosystems. What makes Eristalis tenax truly captivating is its uncanny resemblance to bees, a clever survival strategy known as Batesian mimicry. As I observe these diligent pollinators in action, it reinforces the intricate web of connections within our environment. In a world facing environmental challenges, appreciating the significance of every species, no matter how small, becomes paramount. Eristalis tenax serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of life and the vital role each creature plays in sustaining our planet. Let’s celebrate the unsung heroes of nature, like the Eristalis tenax, and recognize the importance of biodiversity in preserving the beauty and functionality of our ecosystems. 🌿🐝 #EristalisTenax #Biodiversity #NatureAppreciation #EnvironmentalAwareness” #pollination
