And in case you didn't think we had enough going on at Earth Hacks, last Wednesday, I stopped by the #FEI24 Front End Innovation Conference in Boston (and got to hang out with friends Bodhi Patil, Runako Gentles and Melissa Lee) to deliver our new, environmental futures-oriented "Future Innovation Lab" workshop to attendees. We also had our wonderful new Environmental Justice in Technology fellows start with us for the summer last week. Welcome Arpan Somani and Josephine Ewoma! This week, Camille Minns and I are in Seattle for the IEEE/CVF Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) to present an exciting new project. Stay tuned! (and, if I'm overdue on an email response to you, now you know why 😅😅)

Last Monday, Camille Minns and I were in Montreal for The Centre for Media, Technology and Democracy's "Charting the Course: Navigating Climate Justice in the Digital Age" event, where we presented our essay, "Upgrading Environmental Innovation for the 21st Century" alongside amazing scholars and advocates like Joycelyn Longdon , Naolo Charles, Melissa Gregg , and long-time #EnvironmentalJusticeinTech friend and collaborator Ufuoma Ovienmhada (where we also found a colorful window/wall that somehow matched all of our outfits!). It was great to virtually join the UMass Amherst Clean Energy Extension today for the Western Massachusetts Solar Forum! I got the chance to share a bit more about our work at the MIT Renewable Energy Clinic and learn from folks working on all aspects of solar issues here in Massachusetts. Slightly late recap post, but I had an incredible time at the Design Futures Forum earlier this month in St. Louis! ✨ It was great to connect with students and faculty from around the country to explore challenges around tackling systemic issues in the built environment. On behalf of Earth Hacks' Environmental Justice in Technology project, Camille Minns and I got to debut our new workshop, "Is Your Refrigerator Running?", where we used refrigeration technology as a means to encourage students to think critically about real-world physical impacts of our technology design choices. I also got to (finally!) spark some #goodtrubel with the trubel&co team, and talk about spatial justice and engineering education with Nick Okafor after years of zoom calls, and meet Asenette Ruiz and Donovan Dixson! Thanks so much to Ezra Kong, Liz Kramer, Liz Ogbu, Christine Cerqueira Gaspar, Jose Cotto, and all the folks behind the scenes at Design Futures for welcoming us into the community to exchange ideas and knowledge 🌱💡 We can't wait for next year!
