This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we are sharing our commitment to build a more sustainable future by empowering Australian students. Solve for Tomorrow first launched in Australia in 2021, as a way to inspire the next generation of Australians to unleash their creativity and use #STEM skills to solve issues they are passionate about. Our 2023 major winner, Team ORS, received $10,000 to put towards progressing their idea, a device aiming to aid farmers in making informed decisions relating to pesticide usage, and help balance crop production with ecological responsibility. We are incredibly proud to help provide a platform for inspiring Australian youth to enact to positive change. 🌱 Nurturing Young Minds for a Sustainable Future In our ever-changing world, it's our duty to empower the next generation with knowledge. I recently came across a chapter in epathshala that introduces agriculture education to children. Why? Because it's crucial for them to understand where their food comes from, the importance of sustainability, and to ignite a passion for farming. There is a need to encourage and engage these young minds through hands-on experiences. From planting seeds to nurturing, irrigating, witnessing growth, flowering, fruiting, composting, and applying it to the soil. This transformative journey will teach them to cultivate their own nutrition, grasp the essence of our environment, and cherish Mother Nature. This is how we'll raise a generation that values our planet and its resources.🧘🧑🔬🧑🌾 I'm eager to hear about your efforts with children, helping them grow their nutrition, plant gardens, compost waste, and understand the soil as a living entity. Let's share our thoughts to revitalize agriculture and make it an appealing sector for the future. #AgricultureEducation #AgricultureRevitalized #YouthInFarming 🌱🌿

🌱 Cultivating a Sustainable Future 🌍 In today's rapidly changing world, sustainable agriculture isn't just a buzzword—it's a necessity. As we face unprecedented challenges like climate change, population growth, and resource scarcity, the need for innovative, eco-friendly farming practices has never been more critical. At Walisha, we're not just talking about change; we're making it happen. Our mission is to empower African smallholder farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in this new agricultural landscape. Why is education in sustainable agriculture so crucial? 1. Increased Productivity: Educated farmers can produce more with less, optimizing resource use and boosting yields. 2. Environmental Stewardship: Trained farmers understand how to protect soil health, conserve water, and maintain biodiversity. 3. Economic Resilience: Knowledge of sustainable practices helps farmers adapt to market changes and climate challenges, ensuring long-term profitability. 4. Food Security: Educated farmers contribute to a more stable and abundant food supply, crucial for feeding our growing global population. 5. Innovation Adoption: With proper training, farmers can embrace new technologies and techniques that drive agricultural progress. We know time is of the essence with these challenges, that’s why we’re ambitiously working to train 5,000 farmers this fall in sustainable agriculture methods. Your support can help us achieve our goal. By investing in agricultural education, you're not just supporting farmers—you're nurturing a sustainable future for all of us. Join us in this crucial mission. Together, we can cultivate change, one farmer at a time. #SustainableAgriculture #AgEducation #FoodSecurity #InvestInFarmers Ready to make a difference? What a positive initiative! Like many who have been heavily engaged in the food industry and very interested in #sustainablefoodsystems, I have had the privilege of visiting the Netherlands to learn more about its innovative #foodindustry - particularly horticulture - including places like Food Valley and Wageningen University. It’s great to see the Dutch government’s recent announcement of its intention to invest €129 million, in the Re-Ge-NL #innovation programme. #Regenerativeagriculture is a seismic #shift from agricultural production systems that have largely externalized their costs to the environment. It’s a both a #mindsetshift and systems shift that adopts a holistic approach to restoring #soilhealth and biodiversity and at the same time enhancing ecosystems, #sequesteringcarbon, sustaining communities, supporting resilient and sustainable farming, and delivering nutritious food. In the spirit of #clusters and reflecting the deep #collaboration and #coinnovation required across all the #ecosystem actors - under this programme farmers’ cooperatives and networks, supply chain parties, financial institutions, knowledge & technology suppliers and educational & research institutions will jointly start implementation in 2024. It’s a hopefully a great example of how forward thinking #policy can support a much-needed transition to regenerative agriculture in close collaboration with the sector and support genuine #sharedvalue. Hopefully other #policymakers are taking note – particularly those closer to home! 🙂 (Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see a 'National Regeneration Fund'! With our highly anticipated ‘National Reconstruction Fund’ the term ‘reconstruction’ still implies rebuilding or restoring something to its previous state after damage or destruction (i.e. #businessasusual). Whereas #regeneration goes beyond restoration, aiming to create systems that are more sustainable and suited to addressing #wickedproblems and building positive futures.) #systemschange #systemsthinking #transformation #codesign #transformationalleadership #regenerativeleadership #collectiveleadership

Exciting News from Aqua Green Integrated! We recently had the pleasure of hosting a group of enthusiastic primary school pupils on an exciting excursion trip at Aqua Green Integrated. It was an incredible experience witnessing the curiosity and interest these young minds showed towards agriculture.Introducing and nurturing the interest of agriculture among primary school students is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, it helps them develop a deeper understanding of where their food comes from and the importance of sustainable farming practices in ensuring food security for future generations.Furthermore, exposing children to agriculture at a young age fosters a sense of environmental stewardship and appreciation for nature. They learn about the delicate balance between human activities and the ecosystem, leading to more environmentally conscious decisions as they grow older. Moreover, engaging students in agricultural activities can spark creativity and critical thinking skills. From planting seeds to observing plant growth cycles, children learn valuable lessons about patience, problem-solving, and teamwork. At Aqua Green Integrated, we believe in nurturing the next generation of farmers and environmental leaders. By providing hands-on experiences and educational opportunities, we aim to inspire young minds to explore the wonders of agriculture and make a positive impact on our world.Let's sow the seeds of curiosity and passion for agriculture in our youth today, for a greener and more sustainable tomorrow! 🌿 #AgricultureEducation #YouthEmpowerment #SustainableFarming

Following the moto "Implementing Green step towards sustainable and climate resilient agriculture", Greenstep Foundation organized an awareness and hands on practice session for the farmers and students at Organic Fertilizer Farm, Pattoki. The event, titled as “Vermicomposting and Biochar Use for Sustainable and Resilient Agriculture in Pakistan” was held in collaboration with the Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) and Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network that runs under U.S. Department of State. Associate Professor Dr.Sohaib Aslam, Associate Professor Dr.Muhammad Shahbaz Akhtar from Department of Environmental Sciences and Rao Sohail were the moderators of this session who briefed the farmers and the students about use of #vermicomposting and #biochar as soil conditioner The participants were also trained for the preparation of vermicompost and biochar using organic waste materials of their agricultural farms. Farmers which were already applying vermicompost and biochar in their farms shared experiences of their practices. Financial, social and environmental advantages of these organic sources over expensive conventional inputs were discussed. Young students also actively participated in this interactive session and gained the skill to prepare compost. The purpose was to enhance the knowledge of farmers and youth about environmental friendly and climate resilient agricultural practices. #environmentalsustainability #climateaction #climatechange #resilientagriculture #smartagriculture #greenfuture #greeneconomy
