Miracle at the Han River The beginning of any "miracle" is driven by faith and commitment. During my stay at Seoul last week, I visited the Han River and began to reflect how a war-torn nation devoid of capital and natural resources was able to recover speedily and accomplish great feats in education and #technology. Nothing we say, happens by chance. No great feat comes ordinarily. Various factors contributed to the "miracles" we see today in S.Korea. Favourable government policies were put in place, export-oriented industries were established, investments in education and technology, and the hard work of the Korean people spurred the growth of the nation's economy. The heavy investment in #Tech especially with industries like Samsung Electronics served as a testament to the potential for growth and progress even in challenging circumstances. I believe Miracles can happen anywhere, both in Africa and other developing nations facing major challenges and unrest. Are we ready to pay the price? Photo Credit: @Luquin Zhou Luke

*Did You Know* How the company “Sony” (Japanese Electronics giant) got its name! “Sony” was started in 1946 as an electronics shop by Masaru Ibuka with 8 employees, just as Japan was starting to rebuild itself after World War II. The company name Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation or TTK) was quickly established when Akio Morita joined Masaru Ibuka that same year. You might have used TTK tape cassettes in the 70s and 80s. It wasn’t until 1958 until the company changed their name to Sony, which sounded a bit like “sonus” (Latin for noise or sound) as well as being a word unused around the world.
