German Traditions: From Lost Things to Schultüte. It is no secret that knowledge of cultural traditions helps establish a deeper connection with a country and its history. In this context, let's take a look at some German traditions that belong to the great cultural heritage of the country. 🔹Lost items: When someone comes across a lost item, such as a hat, they hang it on the nearest tree to make it easier for the owner to find. 🔹Sunday silence: Germans make a clear distinction between their work and personal life. Almost all shops and cafes are closed on Sunday, giving German workers the opportunity to spend the day with their family and friends. 🔹Advent calendars: Have you ever used an advent calendar with a new window with candy opening every day? This tradition comes from Germany. 🔹Polterabend: There is a unique German wedding tradition known as Polterabend. The night before the wedding guests break porcelain under the newlyweds' feet to attract good luck. 🔹Schultüte: Children can feel anxious at the start of school year, so in Germany they often receive a Schultüte, a decorated paper cone full of gifts, on the first day of school to bring joy to the moment. Which interesting German traditions do you know? 🤔 Let us know in the comments.👇

Our daily experiences are not just moments but building blocks that construct our minds. They become our personal stories. And each personal story matters because every one of us matters. This year I am celebrating my 10th anniversary living in #StadtWien. It is sometimes really difficult to articulate everything that I have learned, experienced, and created in this beautiful city. Sometimes I know Vienna better than the Viennese themselves (If you are from Vienna, and complaining internally about my last sentence, let me know who was Hugo Breitner because I do who he was and what he did 😉) Dear Vienna is time to tell the daily stories differently than the "Heute" approach. The language we choose to articulate these experiences is not innocent—it's a powerful force that shapes our cognitive landscape, influencing attitudes and perceptions. I live in a city where 50% of us are foreigners. In this city are happening amazing things. Could you consider for a moment how our words can be architects, constructing the framework of our thoughts? Every expression, every daily story, becomes a blueprint for our brains. It's not merely about communication; it's about building the architecture of our minds. We have so many languages in this city, not just "Deutsch". It is time to promote (fördern) all of them. To enjoy the incredible cultural diversity that the beautiful city of Vienna has. How we talk about our experiences, and perhaps more crucially, how we discuss each other, leaves an indelible mark. It's a process of constant modeling—sculpting our thoughts, attitudes, and, consequently, the way we engage with the world. Let's be mindful architects of our collective minds. Let's choose words that uplift, inspire, and foster understanding. Our language isn't just a reflection; it's a force that shapes our reality. Let's use it wisely. THANKS, Leticia Luna Tlatelpa for being my partner in creativity. Vienna be prepared for listening your beautiful stories differently and sweetly. You deserve that! Liebe Wien, du hast es verdient. #wienistanders ! 😘 #LanguageMatters #MindfulCommunication #PositiveMindset #LinkedInThoughts 🧠✨

Most of us want to reach the summit in no time.... for it fall for the short-cuts. Turkey mothers are wonderful parents: loving, protective and nurturing of their young. However, look a little more closely and you’ll see that this tenderness hangs by a single thread. If a chick emits the distinctive “cheep-cheep” sound, the mother will care for it lovingly. But if the chick does not, the mother will ignore or even kill it! The “cheep-cheep” sound is so persuasive that even a replica of the turkey’s arch-nemesis, the polecat, will elicit tender care from the mother turkey as long as it cheeps loudly. For the mother turkey, the sound is a simple shortcut that allows her to quickly and, in most cases, reliably identify its chicks, triggering its maternal instincts. We humans like to think of ourselves as clever, which is why the mother turkey’s shortcut can seem quite foolish to us. But the fact is that we use very similar psychological shortcuts as well. This is due to simple necessity: the world is a complex place where it’s impossible for us to reflect upon the details of every decision we make. Thus, we use quick shortcuts, and most of the time they serve us well. One example of such a shortcut is that we’re much more willing to do people a favor if they provide us with a reason – any reason. To study this phenomenon, a researcher asked people queueing up to use a copy machine whether she could skip the line. She found that if she gave a reason – “May I skip the line because I’m in a rush?” – 94 percent of people complied with her request. If she gave no reason, only 60 percent complied. But, fascinatingly, if she gave a nonsensical reason – “May I skip the line because I need to make copies” – 93 percent still complied. Apparently, people have a mental shortcut that deems any reason at all sufficient to grant a favor! More worryingly, just as scientists can trick a turkey into mothering a stuffed polecat, so-called compliance professionals like advertisers, salesmen and con artists can fool us into using our shortcuts against our own interests. They usually do this to get us to comply with their demands, for example, to buy a product. One example is the commonly abused “price indicates quality” shortcut. People usually assume expensive items are of higher quality than cheap ones, and while this shortcut is often at least partially accurate, a wily salesman might well use it against us. For example, did you know that souvenir shops often sell unpopular goods by raising rather than lowering their prices? Since dealing with the complexities of life means having to rely on shortcuts, we must identify and defend ourselves against the manipulators who would trick us into wrongly using those shortcuts, lest we end up looking as foolish as the poor mother turkey. Our brain loves shortcuts, and they can be used to manipulate us. PS: Liked it, hit the like button ❤️ Follow Parijat Saurav Anand for more such contents.

🇲🇽🇺🇸 Happy Cinco De Mayo. How To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo Without Appropriating? As we gear up for the weekend and celebrate Cinco de Mayo, it’s essential to acknowledge that some celebrations may unintentionally veer into cultural appropriation territory. Understanding the historical context of Cinco de Mayo, which stems from the Battle of Puebla, and its impact on Mexican identity is crucial to celebrating the holiday without appropriation. By learning about the holiday’s origins, the next generation can continue participating in meaningful ways that honor its history. In America, people use Cinco de Mayo as an opportunity to celebrate surface-level things, and it’s essential to take a deep dive into the holiday’s cultural relevance. This could involve learning traditional dances, cooking authentic Mexican dishes, or listening to music by Mexican artists. By participating in cultural activities with reverence and appreciation, individuals can celebrate Cinco de Mayo in a way that honors Mexican heritage without appropriating it. Celebrating Cinco de Mayo with cultural sensitivity requires mindfulness, respect, and a readiness to learn. By educating ourselves through community, cultural exchange, and authentic representation, we can honor Mexican culture respectfully and inclusively, making Cinco de Mayo a meaningful and enriching experience for all involved. Here are ways to celebrate the festive holiday while contributing to the community. #heritage #cincodemayo #mexican #mexicanameircan #may #mayfifth

Happy International Market Research Day! This year's theme is 🎉Celebrate Research 🎉 In this posts one of our amazing members Oana Popa Rengle shares her favorite ways to celebrate her own successes and the field of Market Research. How do you celebrate research? How do you celebrate your own successes? ⬇️ Share them in the comments below! ⬇️ #IMRD2024 #InternationalMarketResearchDay #IMRD
Qualitative researcher, ever curious about what makes #humans so interesting. Psychologist. Psychoterapist.
#QRCACelebrates Happy International Market Research Day! 🎉 This year the theme is "Celebrate Research", and beyond the obvious celebration of the achievements *in* and *via* market research, it's a great opportunity to also reflect on the "importance of celebrating ourselves". Are you one of those who find it hard to celebrate your achievements? For me, it used to be a mix of perfectionism, fear of complacency and cultural norms (that valued fitting in over standing out) that pushed me to keep moving forward, without pausing to enjoy, take in the progress or the success, or reward myself somehow. As if taking time to acknowledge achievements could hinder my progress toward future goals. But putting in the effort to create a routine of celebrating your successes, both large and small, with either symbolic or concrete gestures, is a valuable practice. Pausing to celebrate gives the mind a chance to relax and appreciate progress, contributing to overall mental well-being, and also boosts motivation for what's to come along. Earlier this year I took a 3-days spa vacation to celebrate the successful end of 3 immense projects :) (3 for 3, yes!). The more common thing I do is that I bake me & my family cake every time I invoice the balance of a project that has challenged me (invoicing is the mark of the project being completely done). Do you have a ritual, symbolic or concrete, to celebrate your successes? I am sure my QRCA friends do, since @QRCA knows how to celebrate - hence the photo from my 1st QRCA party attached :)) Susan Sweet Cynthia Harris, MBA Kelly Heatly Susan Fader💥Silvia Iranzo Ferrandis Lauren Isaacson #ESOMAR #IMRD2024 #QRCA

Sometimes it is quite difficult for me to explain in very simple language others (especially children or elder generation) what I exactly do at work. I represent Human Resources, People & Culture, Employee Experience and similar names rather than traditional and very clear professions like Doctor, Teacher, Lawyer... 👩🏫🧑⚕️👩🎓 Once my daughter noted: "Mom, can You please, find "normal" job, like Hairdresser?" And during Covid times while constantly working from home, again, my children find out: "Now it is clear what is Your job about... - Attending meetings!". I hope, I'm not alone in such situation. Rapidly changing technologies, environment, transforming companies, including new (and sometimes very "interesting") job titles, make it even more challenging. And not only about concrete positions, but also organizations and their activities. I've started to work in ORO NAVIGACIJA two months ago and I've noticed that people in my social "bubble" do not know what we are doing here ("Something with planes?"). So with big proud I'm sharing this nice video about our internal kitchen and meaningful tradition - "Open days for families & friends". Fantastic sense to see engaged colleagues and curious relatives! ✌😎 P.s. follow the link in comments for career opportunities 🤝 #oronavigacija #airnavigationservices #employerbranding #employeesengagement
Nors šeimų diena #ON jau praūžė, bet mes dar gyvename ekskursijomis nuotaikomis – smagius prisiminimus sudėjome į video! Šeimų diena #ON tampa tradiciniu renginiu – darbuotojų artimieji, draugai svečiavosi pas mus jau antrą kartą ir tikrai nepaskutinį. Mums gera dalintis tuo, kuo gyvename – kartosime! Even though family day at #ON has already passed, we still feel the lingering mood of that excursion, thus, we have put our great memories in a video! “Colleagues welcomed everyone with a twinkle in the eye, told stories and showed around. It is a joy to see such dedication,” the Head of Human Resources of #ON Vilija Apulskė has also shared her thoughts. We still receive appreciations from the relatives of our colleagues: “Thank you for the opportunity to feel, to see in action, what #ON does and how important that is. Everyone loved our work environment, especially the people – sincerity of the colleagues.” Family day at #ON becomes a traditional event as the relatives and friends of employees visited the company for the second time already, but it will definitely not be the last one. It is a wonderful feeling to share what matters to us – there will be a repeat!

Back in 2014, AmCham Slovakia celebrated its 20th anniversary. The video below describes AmCham's top priorities in its mission to keep improving the Slovak business environment. In order to make it more transparent, open, and fair, and in response to the growing concern of AmCham members regarding corruption, or the lack of transparency in the legislative process, the Rule of Law initiative (Iniciatíva za právny štát) was born. Ten years later, it remains one of AmCham's most active and influential initiatives and it still has a lot to fight for. The main message of the video - We are AmCham Slovakia and we are not done yet! - is equally relevant in 2024, the year of AmCham's 30th anniversary!⚖️💪 AmCham Slovakia has been the voice of the Slovak business environment for the past 30 years and that will not change in the future. Together with our members, Board of Directors, and partners, we strive to help the local economy proactively prepare for the global trends and remain competitive. The past was successful, but the future is ahead of us! 3️⃣0️⃣🥳 #AmChamSlovakia30 #ItWasWorthIt #makingSlovakiabetter
