⚡️🌈 The energy sector continues to fall behind other industries on the Stonewall Index, suggesting there's more to be done by organisations and individuals to foster a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ colleagues. ⚡️🌈 See our post below for some ideas on how you as an individual can support LGBTQ+ people in your day-to-day work and personal lives!
🌈 ⚡️Only 21% of people believe that organisations in the energy sector provide an inclusive environment for LGBT+ people ⚡️🌈 Whilst there has undoubtedly been progress made, data from the most recent Pride in Energy Survey suggests that there is more work to be done to embrace LGBT+ inclusion across the sector. With 14% of LGBT+ individuals in the sector being victim to or witnessing discriminatory behaviour in the past year, and 10% of people believing that their employer does not foster an inclusive environment, the sector needs to do more. At Moorhouse, we recently ran our LGBT+ allyship training course, which 100% of the energy sector leadership attended. It was a great session and we wanted to share our top tips to help create a workplace where everyone feels comfortable bringing their true selves to work. 🌈 Celebrating inclusivity with Sebastian, Nicolas, Ashian and Carla 🌈 As the first company in the healthcare and medico-social sector to be certified Top Employer Europe, we have a responsibility to be exemplary. On this International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, we would like to reaffirm Clariane’s commitment to equality, diversity and respect for the rights of LGBT+ people. 🏳️🌈✊ Our Group is committed to setting an example in terms of diversity and to foster an inclusive working environment that enables our employees to be who they are at all times. After initially signing the LGBT+ Charter of L'Autre Cercle in 2018, we have renewed our support and involvement for a three-year period in 2023. We also developed e-learning training modules to raise awareness of LGBT+ inclusion among employees in collaboration with L’Autre Cercle. But we are convinced that there is always room for improvement. To strengthen our actions, we formed in 2023 an European HR working group to facilitate the sharing of existing good practices, then to determine our priority areas of work. 🌈 Reflecting on the End of LGBT+ History Month: A Call to Action 🌈 As we bid farewell to LGBT+ History Month, it's crucial to acknowledge the progress we've made in promoting inclusivity and understanding. However, the end of this designated month should not mark the conclusion of our efforts. There is still much work to be done, and our commitment to fostering a diverse and accepting society must extend beyond a mere 28 or 30 days. As we move forward, let's channel our collective energy into a few actionable steps we can take: ✨ If you manage people, make sure you understand the policies that would impact LGBT+ people. ✨Show your support for equality visibly and talk about how inclusion relates to your every day work. ✨ Commit to being an active bystander and challenging anti-LGBT+ language and behaviour. ✨ Find a way to lend your skills to the LGBT+ inclusion work happening in your organisation. Let's remember that our commitment to equality is not confined to a single month. It's an ongoing journey that requires collective action.
