As I have talked to the world about the Stingray Wind Energy system, I have come in contact with many amazing people working hard to bring social change through non-profit endeavours. Everyone recognizes the importance of other initiatives and organizations, and no one wants to think of themselves in competition for limited money accumulated through fundraising efforts. But fundraising is hard work! I know. I have been there on the non-profit side and now with the Stingray team. The good news is that the Stingray Wind Energy system harnesses the wind in a way that is affordable and accessible for individuals, families, SMEs, and non-profit organizations. A never-ending reliable stream of income solves the fundraising questions we all have! In the meantime, I wonder how much more we can accomplish by coming together and sharing each other's stories. I know that the people I serve need more than what I offer alone. They might need what you offer - right now - to make a big difference in their life. So I decided to commit to telling the stories - yours, mine, and those of the people we know doing great work in the world. I hope you will help me share this vision for collaboration and intentional connectivity. It is a no-brainer that in order to work on enabling gender-just spaces for everyone, it is critical to work with men. What is complicated is the "how", "whom" and "when". This is something we are also figuring out Durga. For us, we look at men as allies towards the outcome of gender justice. We are conscious that we use the right tools to build understanding and acknowledgement among men that they do come with privilege and they do claim entitlements in spaces that actually belong to everyone. This is not easy, but it is intentional and therefore impactful as well! In this case, when we work with men who are delivery partners bringing gas cylinders to our homes, they have transformed themselves to be champions of safety, looking out for inappropriate behaviours, signals of violence and signs of oppression. They know what to do when they see something amiss. Above all - they have truly become allies - they believe that #GBV is unacceptable not just in anybody else's homes, but in their own homes too! Energy usage and production are already taking center stage this week, from rebates on e-bikes to Cleveland Cliffs bidding for U.S. Steel. It's not a coincidence that the energy market is ramping up at the same time that climate change-induced devastation is peaking. While the call to action is good momentum, preventative action is the best way to prevent further damage to communities.
