️ 🏗 Rubner, constructor of sustainable solutions for the 2024 games in Paris🌿 We are proud of our participation in the construction of several buildings for the 2024 Games. Thanks to our expertise and over 100 years of experience in #timberconstruction, we have been able to meet the requirements of deadlines, innovation, and local production through the construction of about ten buildings. In total, 20,000 m² of timber frame facades were produced in our workshops in the Île-de-France region with 90% French wood, far exceeding the expected 30%. ▪️ Village des athlètes sur l’Île Saint-Denis (PE1 and PE4): a double challenge for building PE4, on which 149 prefabricated timber frame facade modules assembled in our production and transported by river, a first for Rubner - AAVP ARCHITECTURE - Groupe Pichet and Legendre Immobilier consortium. ▪️ Les Quinconces D1, D2, D3: a complex of housing and activities, including the prefabrication and assembly of timber frame walls and metal profiles - Architects UAPS + Brenac & Gonzales – Pascal Gontier and Client ICADE – CDC Habitat. ▪️ The timber buildings of the Vaires-sur-Marne nautical base : a construction combining durability and functionality for nautical infrastructures - architects Auer Weber +Assoziierte. We are contributing to building the future, and we are fully aware of this responsibility: because we work with wood — a naturally renewable raw material, carbon-neutral, environmentally friendly — we develop sustainable solutions. 🌲🌍 We thank our teams and partners for their dedication and expertise, and our clients for their trust. 🙌🤝 Discover in images our achievements for the 2024 Games below. Together, let's build a greener future - in wood! #rubner #Frenchwood #betterwithwood #woodconstruction #Bascarbone #Frenchconstruction

MATERIAL SELECTION // If you’re serious about sustainable building practices, timber is the viable only option for window and door fabrication. Carbon-intensive fossil-fuel based materials just don’t stack up and their role in the construction of zero carbon buildings should be closely examined and equally scrutinised. Timber windows and doors use significantly less fossil fuel in their production than aluminium, steel or PVC and can even be carbon negative in their lifecycle – no other material can claim that. "The concept for the community hub design is grounded in the primary form of the circle, inspired locally by the formation of the Pow-wow grounds next to the site, and by the circle’s recurring significance within Cree culture." Reimagine Our beautiful and bright Westlam Spruce adorns part of the circular ceiling of the community centre. This exposed mass timber system was chosen to frame the building as it could efficiently handle the complex geometry, provide a beautiful aesthetic and deliver sustainable benefits. Can adaptive reuse be applied to grain elevators? Surely, it cannot. This project shows how the structures that dot the landscape and are inherently recognized by us as a certain typology could be transformed for reuse, recognition, and a sense of place. Built in 1901, the harbor-front Teweles and Brandeis Grain Elevator was decommissioned in 1960 and sat idle for the next 50 years. When it was facing demolition in 2018, a campaign to save the structure led to the involvement of LA DALLMAN Architects and its engineering team. With strategic subtractions and additions to the utilitarian structure, their adaptive reuse design reimagines the site as a new performance space and tourist destination. What do you think of this sustainable design concept? Share your thoughts in the comments below👇

As we gear up for the 2023 RCI Magazine Facade Awards, let's revisit our past successes, starting with the impressive Spanish City project! Spanish City stole the spotlight at the 2021 Facade Awards, clinching the titles of Best Refurbishment Project and Project of the Year. This Grade II Listed building, boasting a Renaissance-style facade, proudly features Proteus cladding, a key element of its award-winning transformation. A bold extension, featuring Proteus SC perforated TECU Patina, was an architectural triumph, earning A D P Architects a RIBA North East Award. The Proteus SC panels' circular perforations align with the building's complex geometry. It's an innovative solution that integrates seamlessly with the building's intricate design. The cladding's durability and protection against coastal elements were critical, given its seafront location. Proteus SC panels combat wear and corrosion, safeguarding the building's longevity. After a meticulous redevelopment by Robertson Group, Spanish City emerged as a vibrant mixed-use leisure hub. With its range of eateries, event space, and community offerings, it once again captures hearts. #FacadeAwards2023 #SpanishCityRevival #Architecturalprojects #buildingprojects
