This week's news has been dominated by the horrible Lucy Letby case. But there were some important #EPR and #HealthTech developments as well. In this week's Healthcare Roundup newsletter digest: * The government announced an inquiry into the circumstances behind the murders and attempted murders of babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital by nurse Lucy Letby between June 2015 and June 2016. The regulation of managers may be an issue. * One of the most closely watched #ElectronicPatientRecord procurements of recent years concluded when The Norfolk and Waveney Acute Hospital Collaborative went with MEDITECH. * The government announced that 1,000 #GP practices have switched to #CloudTelephony (and our client X-on Health's Surgery Connect is one of the leading systems...); NHS England announced a new wireless trials programme; Wales announced an electronic prescription service pilot; Morrisons put QR codes into underwear to give buyers access to cancer information; Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System announced big #RemoteMonitoring figures with Graphnet Health and Docobo Ltd; and Doccla expanded through acquisition. Catch up on the news you need to succeed in #DigitalHealth, from an agency that really knows the sector: bit.ly/3stE6MD

This is innovation paired with workflow improvement. Tomorrow (Friday) at 12 pm (CEST) I will present "predictive analytics in neonatal care" at the EWON 2024.
Exciting times! NeoPrediX is exhibiting at the 31. EWON in Lübeck/Germany in cooperation with Dräger. From today until Saturday we will showcase the workflow in jaundice management, including the Dräger Jaundice Meter JM-105 as well as the compact and lightweight Dräger BiliLux LED phototherapy light system for the treatment of neonatal jaundice. NeoPrediX B.1 will serve as the backbone of this workflow, easily accessible on every enabled device throughout the patient journey: based on the TSB and TCB measurements, including the screening performed with the JM-105, caregivers will receive an accurate prediction of the progression of bilirubin up to 60h ahead, individual for each baby. This way, caregivers are supported in making precise decisions, and if phototherapy should be needed, the Dräger BiliLux provides superior phototherapy performance and individualised therapy. NeoPrediX B.1 together with the Dräger JM-105 and Dräger BiliLux provide valuable workflow support in daily clinical routine combined with the flexibility for seamless integration into practically every workplace. NeoPrediX B.1 can be connected to various clinical information systems via standard interfaces to support the automated documentation efforts of hospitals. Make sure to stop by our booth at 31. EWON in Lübeck/Germany, taking place today, tomorrow and Saturday morning. #jaundicemanagement #predictiveanalytics #clinicalworkflow

The 2023 #GPPatientSurvey results are in - a national survey which shows how patients feel about their #GP practice, covering areas such as opening times, ease of getting an appointment, patient experience and quality of care received. As a local #NHShealthcare provider, this survey is a good 'litmus test' for the performance of practices in DHC GP Federation, both on a micro-level and when compared to county and national averages. We're pleased to say that the performance of practices operating within our four #PrimaryCareNetworks remains at a high standard. Overall #PatientSatisfaction within DHC is 82% (5% higher than last year), with the following headline results: 👍 Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) #PCN in the #Epsom and #Ewell area, went from 62% patient satisfaction in 2022 to 81% in 2023 - an impressive leap since they joined us last year. 👍 #Dorking PCN remains at a consistently high standard, with 90% patient satisfaction. We are particularly proud of the practice team at Leith Hill for achieving 97%, the highest score in Surrey. 👍 #Redhill Phoenix and South #Tandridge PCNs are achieving above the Surrey Heartlands Health and Care Partnership (the commissioning group for #NHS services in #SurreyDowns and East #Surrey). 👍 Pond Tail GP Surgery in #Godstone has jumped from 50% to 77% - a tremendous improvement and testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team involved in its transformation over the last year. Behind these numbers is always the drive to ensure patients have the best access and care. If areas are identified for improvement, we'll work towards that goal. We also acknowledge that times are tough for GP practices everywhere, with many pressures and changes happening within #PrimaryCare. These struggles are real and are also reflected in the survey results. A collective well done to #TeamDHC and other local NHS healthcare providers for striving to do better in challenging times. #PatientExperience #NHSEngland #Oxted #GPFederation

Tim Ebel’s visit with an ear, nose and throat specialist at an Ohio clinic last October came to $348. At the same time, he got a second bill for $645. The hospital system that owns the Avon, Ohio, clinic had charged him separately for use of the office where he met his physician. It is what is known as a #facility fee, which included overhead for the system’s hospitals though Ebel hadn’t set foot in one. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 Hospitals are adding billions of dollars in facility fees to medical bills for routine care in #outpatient centers they own. Once an annoyance, the fees are now pervasive, and in some places they are becoming nearly impossible to avoid, data compiled for The Wall Street Journal show. The fees are spreading as hospitals press on with #acquisitions, snapping up medical groups and tacking on the additional #charges. 👇🏼 The added cost isn’t justified, physicians and economists say. #Medicare advisers said last year the federal #insurer likely overpaid for a sample of services by about $6 billion because of the fees in 2021. 👇🏼 Fees have grown more pervasive as hospitals have gone on an acquisition tear in recent years, chasing after #patients who have more options to get medical care somewhere else. Many hospital systems now get at least half their revenue from patients who aren’t admitted. By one estimate, more than half of doctors work for hospitals. 👇🏼 Every group locally that I use has had a organizational shift, brand change, merger or acquisition since 2020. This is a way to offset this cost. Check you bills for these charges. They may be buried but it's worth looking at and disputing. If you can recieve the same services in a clinic or doctors office you will likely eliminate the risk of paying potentiinally double. #medicalbills #hospitalfees #oncology #doctors #routinetesting #radiology #urgentcare #chemotherapies #findyourwhy 💰 https://lnkd.in/eAxSCDbH
