Hello Everyone   I'm happy to announce that our research paper titled "Unit vector template controlled grid integrated and solar fed BLDC drive-based water pumping system" has been published in the esteemed Journal "e-Prime - Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Energy"!   I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my mentors and professors, Dr. B. Ashok Kumar, Dr. C. Bala Sundar, and Dr. S. Senthil Rani, whose unwavering support and guidance were instrumental in this achievement.   Here are some highlights from our paper:   We proposed a unit vector template-controlled grid-integrated solar Photovoltaic powered three-phase BLDC drive-based water pumping system.   Utilizing a bidirectional voltage source converter, we enable seamless power exchange between the utility, water pump, and solar PV, ensuring optimal operation regardless of weather conditions.   This research opens up new avenues for sustainable and efficient water pumping systems, contributing to the advancement of renewable energy technologies. Electroluminescence and infrared imaging of fielded photovoltaic modules: A complementary analysis of series resistance-related defects In this study, a technique was developed using infrared-facilitated electroluminescence (EL and IR) to estimate external series resistance, focusing on issues like solder bond degradation and resistance losses in the ribbon itself. This work was motivated by studying the impact of temperature on the cell's EL characteristics and separating the internal series resistances from the external series resistances in defective modules. It was found that the degradation of contacts between the ribbon and busbars significantly contributes to the long-term performance loss in modules installed in two distinct climates: 18 years in the hot-dry environment of Arizona and 10 years in the hot-humid conditions of Florida. I am delighted to announce that our research has been published in the prestigious Journal of "Applied Thermal Engineering", which proposes a novel two-step optimization approach for film water cooling of a photovoltaic module in real ambient conditions. Efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) modules decreases as they get warmer in real working conditions. One way to address this issue is to apply water-film cooling on the front surface of a PV module. The purpose of this study is to determine if there is an optimal flow rate and activation time scenario to maximize the net energy gain of the system in real ambient conditions. A novel two-step optimization approach is applied in order to first determine the ideal water flow rate on an hourly, daily, and monthly basis and then to determine the proper activation time interval for a water cooling system. I am pleased to announce that our recent research has been published in the Electric Power Systems Research journal. The proposed approach provides a very interesting perspective on the application of wasserstein-based distributionally robust optimization in integrated multi-energy systems, which is very suitable for modeling the uncertain behavior of renewable energy sources.  Abstract The widespread adaptation of electric vehicles will extend their impact from power systems to natural gas and heating networks since these energy systems are delicately interconnected. This study investigates uncoordinated and coordinated charging control strategies of electric vehicle fleets (EVFs) in network-constrained multi-energy systems (NMES). A mixed-integer second-order cone programming (MISOCP) model is presented to capture the nonlinearities in EVFs battery degradation cost, power flow equations of the electric distribution system (EDS) and natural gas network (NGN). To deal with uncertain renewable energy production, a Wasserstein-based distributionally robust optimization (DRO) framework is applied. Moreover, the behavioral uncertainties in EVFs’ traveled distance and arrival/departure times are also taken into account. The model is implemented on two different NMES sizes (one small and one large benchmark systems) to assess the models functionality and scalability in real-world applications. The outcomes illustrate how smart and uncoordinated EVF charging strategies can impact each of these networks, while the proposed DRO model leads a conservative estimation over the probability distribution functions of renewable energy production. Most notably, using the smart charging strategy led to 50.55% reduction in the operational costs of the small test system and 27.83% for the large test system. In recent years, sub/super- synchronous oscillations occur frequently in large-scale wind power bases throughout China. Since the oscillation frequencies are close to the fundamental frequency, the current components can spread over a large area, and may destroy the shafting of rotating devices in the power grid. Improving the control strategy and parameters of wind turbines can prevent this problem to some extent, however, due to complex operational conditions and continuous development of wind power, the off-line improvement measures on wind turbines cannot eliminate the potential oscillation risks. In CSEE JPES paper entitled “Coordination Control Method for Preventing Sub/Super Synchronous Oscillations of Multi-wind Farm Systems”, This paper proposes an oscillation risk screening and stability assessment method, and develops a coordination control method for large-scale wind farm systems to prevent sub/super-synchronous oscillations.   Coauthored by G.
