Fair enough, but you can't put a price on the many many benefits of having a dog in your life. If you're in any of these expensive cities, adopt a dog... Dogs provide happiness, affection, a sense of belonging, and access to a wonderful community of other dogs and their owners if you socialize them. Trust me, it's one of the best things you'll ever do with your life.

Thankfully here in San Diego, while it is the most expensive US city to live in, it seems to not be the most expensive to have a dog. There are so many dog friendly places here and it seems like everyone has a dog. My cats have not accepted that me having a dog is a possibility so I get my dog time by pet sitting with Rover.

Hmmm. Boarding is VASTLY more expensive than that chart says...
