Last week, GK went to visit SEMICON Japan 2023 at Tokyo Big Sight. The annual convention features cutting-edge companies from all over the world working in the semiconductor field, this time covering all of the east exhibition halls. This year's theme was based around the quote 'Seize the Future. Build the Era', which at a time of increased awareness of semiconductor supply chains, (especially in Japan with ongoing projects by TSMC and government-backed entity Rapidus), is definitely a strong message. Among the 961 exhibitors at the event, a few booths definitely stood out. Tokyo-based Ferrotec showcased its 'ferrofluid' technology. In layman's terms, these materials are fluids that can respond to magnetic fields via small embedded particles on the nano-scale, with applications in aerospace, audio technology, and of course semiconductors. With the global semiconductor manufacturing equipment market set to reach $124 billion in size by 2025, interest in the latest technology remains strong. As an Asian as myself, we have talent that can be shared around the Infineon network, our BE expertise. In Asia, majority of our expertise is in BE Development and BE Assembly (Process, Equipment and Improvement). With this expertise, often times than not; it is very hard to find a right fit outside Asia. Well, I would like to share to you fellow Asian that we actually have an BE assembly site in Europe.
