"Sudan was accepting of my wary intrusions and poised as though he was aware of his symbolism as the last icon of his subspecies" After many years invested into understanding the importance of innovation in Africa through personal efforts of building teams, raising capital and creating invaluable relationships across the continent I saw an opportunity beyond the convoluted remittance space and decided to make my move. Fintech as a platform for impact has proliferated global markets. Competition is rife in cross border payments, embedded finance, BaaS and eKYC. Embedded finance is more about front-end and focuses on the customer experience and providing financial solutions in conjunction with buying other goods or services, BaaS is a back-end process, providing financial services that allow digital banks and non-banks to offer these products for themselves. The value for startups? Building IP quickly, connecting APIs through interoperability, ensuring compliance, getting to the market and addressing the problem quickly. Crowdfunding as a medium to solving problems is a blue sky opportunity. That compelled me to move. Bootstrapped but I believe it's a good bet. 7 months on.... We are capturing clients that tell powerful stories. They challenge impact minded folk to look further and play a part in contributing towards campaigns that are addressing the issues of conservation, climate change and capacity building. 🌐 Ukraine: Looking to the future with a resilient economy 🇺🇦 The Ukrainian company EcopanUA has managed to keep its employees working even in times of war - a strong demonstration of teamwork and resilience. 🏡 Ecopan plans and builds energy-efficient homes and has numerous customers in Germany. But the war has affected supply chains. Customized wooden panels from Europe were hard to come by. Nevertheless, the company helped to build accommodation for refugees. Ecopan continued the projects in Germany with minimal delays - customers and partners expressed their understanding for the challenges. 🤝 How did that work? Managing Director Olga Romanenko used the Leverist.de platform to find new customers and partners. Leverist.de connects companies from Germany and Europe with Ukrainian companies. The leverist.de Community also meets here on LinkedIn. We support the platform on behalf of Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). It is striking how climate-induced displacements are not reflected in GDP numbers, particularly for the human livelihoods in such a small, fragile, and impoverished country - where rural-urban connectivity is lacking severely and where LNG will largely go, well, elsewhere; sometime.
