President and CEO at Texas International Education Consortium

As part of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) focus on #UNSDG7 - affordable and clean energy - and energy transitions, my wonderful programs team has just concluded part one of a partnership we are undertaking with Universities South Africa. We love working with Oliver Seale and all the South African faculty, not to mention our stars of the screen Jeff Sammons and Michael Pelletier. I remind you all that Texas is leading the U.S. in #renewableenergy production, something that continues to surprise many of you, but it’s true. TIEC will continue to pursue a focus on renewable energy - feel free to bring us your ideas for high impact higher education partnerships in this area! #highered #globaled #internationaleducation #partnerships #UNSDG

Our Strength in Partnership: A Virtual Series on Energy Transition in Texas and South Africa has reached a remarkable conclusion! We wrapped up our five-part series with an engaging joint panel discussion exploring partnership models in academia, industry, and international collaborations on the just energy transition. Our esteemed panelists from the University of Houston, Texas A&M University, Durban University of Technology, and University of the Witwatersrand shared their expertise, highlighting the power of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable change. This session showcased the incredible impact of partnerships and the importance of global cooperation in addressing the just energy transition. It was a fitting finale to an enlightening series that has brought together thought leaders and innovators from both Texas and South Africa. Stay tuned for more initiatives and collaborations as we continue to explore the path toward a sustainable future. A heartfelt thank you to the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy South Africa for their unwavering funding support. This project is a gift from the United States Government. Robin Lerner, I remain impressed with the good work of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) team along with the vast reach and impact of your programs. It is indeed quite surprising that Texas is leading in the U.S. in #renewableenergy production. Can’t wait to hear more. Hopefully The University of Texas at Austin will get in on this as well.
