Another edition of the Tour de France ended and even though the level of entertainment provided by the race is clearly on the decline since 2011 (best editions are 98, 2003 with 2006 being the all-time greatest), the complexity of its logistics makes it - by far - the most interesting sporting event in the world. The Tour de France is the equivalent of a village - over 5k individuals including teams, sponsors and security - being transported throughout France every day for 21 days. The primary contractor is XPO logistics which provides over 50 trucks to transport more than 400 tons of cargo (https://lnkd.in/e32tgEgr) But the village also requires a large TV production team to broadcast the event to over 3 billion people across 190 countries. Portable TV Studios & Edit Rooms, planes & helicopters needed to relay the data...etc - (https://lnkd.in/ejpFNHDD); contrary to the Giro d'Italia managed by RCS (Urban Cairo) and broadcasted by Rai who rely entirely on helicopters, incapable of flying in bad weather (low altitude vs planes) and broadcast images (see Giro 2021 stage 16...etc) And on top of all this the French state provides added security through an army of firefighters, ambulances and police/gendarmes totaling ~ 30k. The scale of the Tour de France is unrivaled because it's a yearly event and continues to grow - events like the Olympics and the World Cup also require extensive logistics but happen every four years and in a very confined space; a few cities at most. ps: The 2018 Giro had its start in Israel and the 2025 UCI World Championships will happen in Rwanda. I wouldn't be surprised if soon enough the Grand Depart will happen across the Mediterranean further adding to the complexity of the logistics needed to run the Tour.

We are in the right direction to be the Global player we aim for : - Strong and steady growth continues in Middle East & Africa: a rise of 128% over the year as a whole and up 66% in the third quarter. - The India-Asia Pacific region also grew, with the Tonale’s debut contributing to a rise of 27% for the quarter.
