My Day With an E-commerce Agency A few weeks back, I spent a day with the team at Real Return Marketing and talked to the founders about lead gen vs Ecom. They’re killing it now, so props to them; it was interesting seeing how other people work and structure their advertising. The most valuable lessons I learned were: - Be in a position where you can pick and choose who you work with. - their client acquisition strategy was optimised to the point where they were careful who they worked with, which gave them flexibility. - Focus on the foundations - everything relies on the core foundations when delivering a high-value service. These guys had it nailed down regarding comms, onboarding, reporting and relationships. - Be confident in the team - everyone there has their role and plays it well. There’s no crossover or confusion, which allows a harmonious working environment and leads to the best results for clients. - Test, iterate and systemise - build processes off the back of common bottlenecks and systemise as much as possible. From a smaller team, their output is mad. There’s a lot more to talk about, but I’ll save it for another day. If you’re a 6 figure e-commerce brand looking to take your advertising seriously and scale up to 7 figures and beyond, I’d recommend giving them a buzz.
