I recently finished reading Lifelong Kindergarten by Mitch Resnick, and it truly resonated with me. The concept of "kindergarten" pedagogy—learning through play, passion, projects, and peer inspiration—is something I wholeheartedly believe in.
Over the past year, I've embraced these principles as an educator and a learner. My focus has been on innovating learning experiences to make them more engaging, differentiated, and fun through project-based learning.
With the rise of AI, many educators are rethinking traditional assessments. My focus has shifted towards redesigning assessments to be more personalized, helping students showcase a collection of skills that connect with real life.
My inspiration often comes from playtime with my two-year-old. She's my real client, and observing her needs has led to many prototypes. These playful experiments have informed my approach to curriculum design and assessment, ensuring they have a low floor, high ceiling, and space for student interest. This approach turns external motivations into internal drives.
Over the past 12 months, I've created numerous projects, some more successful than others. However, each attempt has been a valuable learning opportunity, allowing me to explore, fail, and better understand how to support students' learning journeys from both a learner and educator perspective.
Looking back on all the maker projects I've undertaken, I'm grateful for the incredible amount of learning and fun I've experienced. And I'm looking forward to more opportunities to make learning an adventure for all!

Putting Digital Accessibility in the hands of the content creators ► Digital Document Remediation ► Video Captioning ► Audio Descriptions ► Music Lesson Accessibility
This study by the Australian Catholic University on the benefits of video to boost student learning was completed in 2020, great timing when reliance on online education became an imperative as an outcome of COVID.
The article outlines some key benefits of video as a teaching support tool. However what the study didn’t address is the impact of video (as with all online teaching tools) when it’s not accessible to everyone including those with disabilities or learning difficulties.
Without suitable captions, audio descriptions and transcripts even the best video is not reaching its entire audience. And in today’s technology driven age, near enough is not good enough.
