Top-Rated Career Coach | Mrs. Oregon America 2021 | U of O Biz Instructor | Senior Marketer | Author of "Made To Hire" | Ex-Nike | Featured in Fast Company & Self Magazines | Confidence Builder
This memory popped up today. It was two years ago when the interview coach got interviewed for the role of Mrs. America. Two things I did that day that you can use in your next interview: 1) Be very aware of your non-verbals whether you're interviewing in-person or on video (smile, bring good energy, make eye contact, don't cross your arms.) 2) Know how to tell your story well. Be sure you lead with what sets you apart and align your story to the role you're interviewing for. Think about what makes you credible and why that company and that specific role are a great match with your experience. Interviews are won or lost in those first few minutes when you talk about your background. Want more tips? Check out my blog or book at https://www.madetohire.com.

Quick tip Tuesday: Preparing for interviews doesn’t need to be hard. Are you with me? Keep it simple: Reasearch company, interview panel (if known) and print the JD. Write on the JD where your skills have been put in action and what the result was. Preferably quantitative data 📊. Show up on time, dress one level up from position and bring your confidence. Need help? Reach out and I’ll get back with you. #interviewpreparation #interviewprep

Most employers opt for panel interviews because they are a time-saver. This is because they allow multiple decision-makers to meet interviewees at once. However, they can be intimidating for first-timers because they involve more than one interviewer asking questions. However, you can do well in these assessments if you prepare early. Start by researching the names of your interviewers ahead of time. Also, check out their social media handles to get an idea of who they are. Last week, Lauren Francis and Cory Mlady had a great conversation with a Portland HR Management Association (PHRMA) Special Interest Group (SIG), where they discussed how to master the art of virtual interviews. Here were a few key takeaways: 1️⃣ Be Punctual: Join the call just 5 minutes before it begins to avoid unnecessary notifications for your interviewer. Punctuality sets a positive tone right from the start. 2️⃣ Communicate Clearly: If you have to take the call from an unconventional location, like your car, always inform the interviewer in advance. Clear communication ensures a smooth interview experience. 3️⃣ Use the STAR Method: STAR stands for Situation - Task - Action - Result and is a great way to structure your responses. Review the job description, match it with examples, and articulate clear, precise stories to showcase your skills effectively. We hope you ace your next interview! 🔥 #interviewpreparation #virtualinterview #careergrowth
