Each Memorial Day, we acknowledge the brave men and women who have given their lives in defense of this country. Today and in recent years, I can’t help but also think about those who each day are sacrificing themselves to defend democracy everywhere, especially in Ukraine. As someone who came to the United States as an immigrant and has lived my own version of the American Dream, my family and I are perpetually grateful for the opportunities we have received – none of which would be possible without the ultimate sacrifice from others

Having been born in Poland, fled to Australia with my parents during Communism and martial law (my first brother was born in Australia) and then finally was welcome in Canada as a citizen (where my second brother was born) I fully respect the the sacrifice people make to keep their families safe! (Thanks Mom!)
