In these moments, we find a deeper #gratitude not just for the food on our table, but for the opportunity to come together, #reflect on our #growth, and look forward to the path that lies ahead. Grateful Together: In a world that often moves too fast, we pause to cherish the #togetherness that this Iftaar represented. It’s a powerful reminder to be grateful for each other's presence, #support, and the collective #spirit that drives us forward. Our Collective Achievements: Our achievements this year have been a testament to our #teamwork and #perseverance. From receiving accolades at the Association of Tanzania Employers(ATE) awards and surpassing our own #benchmarks. It's these #accomplishments that remind us of our shared #vision and of what we can achieve together. Impact Beyond Work: Through our #commitment to #CSR initiatives, we’ve managed to touch lives and make a tangible difference in our #community. This dual focus on professional #excellence and social responsibility is what makes our HR team stand out. Personal Growth and Unity: Witnessing the individual journeys of #learning and #evolution has been #inspiring. Each step forward for a team member is a step forward for us all. It’s these personal achievements that underscore our collective #strength and sustain MeTL’s #nurturing environment. This latest article from Noted founder and CSO Scott Pearson really gets to the core of the problem for all community-based health and social services providers, and helps explain why Noted delivers so much value for these organisations: "We need a system shift; to move away from funding just to deliver a particular service and instead funding to improve the wellbeing of people. If we can measure the impact of services on wellbeing, then we can determine where to allocate scarce resources to have the most impact." So let's do that!

Some sun, no sea, but plenty of #SocialValue While much of the property industry headed to Cannes, I spent a chunky part of the week at a couple of events hosted by Social Value UK. One online, looking at measuring wellbeing initiatives, and one a series of panels and networking at #TheBuildingCentre. I won't butcher much more knowledgeable people's insights by attempting to summarise them, so instead a few more conceptual takeaways: 🔵 where there's a will, there's a way. There's some brilliant work being done - notably by HACT and Simetrica-Jacobs - to more meaningfully identify the impact of initiatives on wellbeing. This is so important. How long can it be, really, until companies are held to a higher standard on their impact on wellbeing (employees, customers, stakeholders, etc) in an era where cost of the NHS and the welfare bill when it comes to long-term sickness is increasingly unaffordable? Even the Tories are already putting in measures to ensure private sector does more. For companies working in the #BuiltEnvironment, you can be leaders.  🔵 it doesn't have to be hard. If pitching for local authority work or support, just do your research into the community, identify what the local authority needs, and find a way for your project to support it. Don't overcomplicate it, don't delve too deep, just pay attention and listen. 🔵 my, there's a lot of energy out there for #SocialImpact. Both events I attended saw a surge in interest that SVUK wasn't expecting. Particularly in the room yesterday, people of all ages but particularly youngish people, there was an energy and enthusiasm. It's only going to grow - that means opportunities for businesses getting social impact right, and big and ballooning challenges for those that ignore it. Thinking back over the years, it always seems to be in January when I've made most of my biggest life decisions. 🇦🇺 I resigned from my 10-year career in the Civil Service to emigrate to Australia (a story for another day) in January 2014 🐘 I quit my 18-month comms consultant role and booked a trip to Africa to become an elephant orphanage volunteer in January 2015 🐣 I decided (with T) to kickstart the IVF process in January 2021, and Oscar came into our world the following year 💍 I decided (also with T!) that we should get married in secret and just bloody well get on with it in 2023... and we did. The bookends of the year always bring about a lot of reflecting for me. Am I where I want to be? Am I who I want to be? Am I on track, or have I got stuck or gone off-course? Leaders need to acknowledge that their people may well be in a similarly reflective mode, and harness it. Chances are, your people will be planning their own 2024 - it's up to you to make sure you're part of it. Are you celebrating the collective wins of 2023, and planning together for an even better 2024? Are you coming together to reflect on where you are as a company, what's working well and what needs improving? Are you getting clear on shared 2024 priorities and goals, with everyone rowing in the same direction, with everyone clear on the important part they play in the bigger picture? What a fabulous initiative by the Palladium Hotel Group 👏 Identifying three verticals that will drive the most impact, it's great to see what can be achieved when CSR is prioritised... with 98 initiatives being identified and actioned. 98!! (And of course, the key word there being ...actioned. 💪 ) Partnering with local NGO's to even further amplify the impact of said initiatives... bravo!!! A source of inspiration for any #CSR #ESG strategy: Finland has: 1. Connection to nature 2. Comprehensive social welfare system 3. More holidays, family time, and flexible hours 4. Community involvement 5. Support for those struggling with mental health 6. Women feel safe 7. Women's participation in the workforce and leadership 8. Teachers are highly educated and well-trained 9. Trust in their government and institutions 10. I would specify snow, it does make me happy. Although, to be a realist, I should mention 'very little snow with plastic particles' There are, indeed, structural imbalances where we live, and we also have One life, one opportunity to do what is in our power to change We cannot ever say that we don't have models that work! #Singapore is making great strides in strengthening the impact of active-ageing centres. An ageing society will demand a more holistic approach between the public and private sectors. #Malaysia should follow suit for us to tackle the growing challenges of an ageing society. Here are some of Singapore's efforts: -$100 million will be pumped into more than 200 active ageing centres from April 2024 to March 2025, up from $60 million provided from April 2023 to March 2024 -This will go into hiring crew such as full-time staff and coaches for exercise sessions, and utilities for cooking for communal dining programmes. -An emphasis on encouraging volunteerism as these centres cannot fully rely on full-time staff -Aiding the reduction of the administrative requirements for active ageing centres to make it easier for them to operate and save on administrative costs. https://lnkd.in/g-CeyWBs
