Perfect timing for my second blog to be released, as today is the day that Ontario Regulation 41/24 under the #ConservationAuthoritiesAct comes into effect! Within this blog we explore the updated definition to watercourses. This is a topic that has come up on several of my projects and I believe that the refinements to the definition will provide additional clarity when determining if a drainage feature is a watercourse or a headwater drainage feature. It was also important for me to note that just because a drainage feature doesn’t meet this new watercourse definition, it does not mean that this feature can be removed without management. Rather, it would still need to be managed in accordance with the HDF Guideline. Stay tuned for Sean Male’s blog where he takes a further dive into the Regulation with respect to setback requirements and limits on the conditions Conservation Authorities can attach to permits. #environmentalpermitting #regulatorychanges #environmentalconsulting
As of today, Ontario’s Conservation Authorities Act features an official updated definition of “watercourse”. In her second blog in a series, #TeamGEI’s Olivia Robinson explores this change and its potential implications on environmental projects around the province. Environmental Security, the 'missing link' in the peace building process in Ethiopia. Some of the conflict and instability in the country is the by product of environmental mismanagement in the country, and failure to properly adopt indigenous environmental conservation. Environmental conservation can heal our wounds and fostering dialogue, if we understand how the natural order keep its balance. Environmental Security is the sum total of other forms of security.
