I worked for the Department for Employment and Learning for 15 years in a variety of roles, all of which were focused around helping Employers find talent and helping jobseekers find meaningful employment. I greatly enjoyed working with these client groups but felt my career was a bit stagnant in the Civil Service. That’s when I decided to look at recruitment as a career path within agency. I met with Mairead Scott, and the rest is history and I’m delighted to say it’s been the best decision I have ever made!

There is so much that I love about recruitment, but people are always at the core of everything I do. I've been fortunate to team up with some amazing businesses and candidates, and nothing beats the feeling of finding a business their next superstar or helping a candidate hit their career goals. It's these moments that make recruitment feel less like a job and more like a great journey with fantastic people.

A standout achievement has been our collaboration with a Global Financial Services firm who were establishing a new operation in Belfast. In this project, my team and I took on the role of the exclusive recruitment partner, entrusted with the task of building a team of over 100 professionals. The positions ranged from Financial Services Administrators to Financial Advisory customer support, Team Leaders, Senior Managers and Complaint Resolution Administrators. Working within a tight timeframe of just 3 months presented its challenges, but delighted to say the team rose to the occasion and the client was delighted with the service and calibre of candidates. Over a year later, we remain their exclusive partner, a testament to the success of our partnership.

Outside of work, I am passionate about travel. With a Mountain Leader as a partner, I have taken on some ambitious expeditions such as the 260k Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas, trekking across the Andes mountains from Chile to Argentina in Patagonia, climbing the highest mountain in North Africa and Spain as well as my personal best, the highest pass in the world at 5416 metres in Nepal. I've also just come back from a 7-month sabbatical travelling in South America, Balkans and Europe.

When you love what you do it’s hard to think of anything else other than recruitment, but if I had a wand, I would become a travel blogger.
