Is it really all about the cash? If you talk to our CEO/co-founder, he'll say it can't be -- because if his team were only motivated by money, they would have left long ago. To John, the $$$ is just one part of why people keep showing up for work. The rest? It's all about the kind of workplace you build. A few years ago, John wrote down his thoughts on the topic. Since that time, Stratus HR has been named a "Utah Top Workplace" by the Salt Lake Tribune -- 4 times in a row! Truth be told, John's absolutely right. Money isn't the only motivator for employees. The culture you create, the respect you give, and the workplace you build — those are the reason why employees keep showing up. And if you're running a small business, where the salaries you offer simply can't compete with the deep pockets and big budgets of giant enterprise competitors, your culture matters that much more. Last summer, John updated his take on the topic. You can read it here: https://hubs.la/Q028JJSp0 #workplaceculture #employeemorale #employeemotivation #topworkplacesUtah

I'm not sharing this because I think I deserve a raise, or even to have people raise the minimum (although I wouldn't be opposed) but I am sharing this for the last sentence. ✨️ Invest in your employees and your business will thrive. ✨️ I think it is so important for directors, managers, leaders, anyone in any type of position of power to remember that 1) most everyone in those positions were once below that position and 2) without employees, nothing runs. When a company makes their employees feel needed and wanted, makes them feel like they are important, then the employees will stay. Oftentimes, in my experience, the money only accounts for a piece of the whole picture, but that coworkers and the people you work with make a job worth staying in or leaving from. Bottom line, people are people and no matter the title, at the end of the day, that's what we all are. All people have bills, struggles, and families they care for and support. I think that if that's kept in mind more often, then there will be a better chance of everyone thriving. 😉 #foodforthought #mytwocents #employeerecognition

✨The answer lies beyond the balance sheets ✨ In a world where business success often takes centre stage, we sometimes lose sight of the real cost of unethical behaviour. Beyond the balance sheets and quarterly results, there’s a high price to pay, and it’s paid by the very heart and soul of an organisation – its people. Unacceptable behaviour within companies is like a slow poison, leading to high staff attrition, demoralization and decreased productivity. The unchecked greed and disregards for others can leave us feeling stressed, anxious and disillusioned. It’s a heavy toll on our mental and physical health, and it erodes our trust in others faster than seagulls devour a pile of hot chips. Click here to read more: https://lnkd.in/g6Cr2JHF

Marketing Psychology | Lead Gen tactics | Sales. Founder of Red2Black Media Marketing firm. We help agencies and business owners get more clients.
An employee's value should be measured by more than just work efficiency. I heard this story a long time ago and it changed my whole perspective on what a "good employee" is. Once upon a time, there was a medium-sized business that wanted to become a large business. They did the sensible thing and called people they believed could help. They called business gurus from all walks. Finance, HR, Marketing. You name it. After these gurus got done combing through the business's systems they were ready to start speaking to employees. One by one they interviewed each to get an idea of who is valuable and who should make the chopping block. After the interviews, each guru brought up one name. Let's call him Dave. They asked the owner "What does Dave even do?" They said, "Dave is a waste of money." They all agreed "Dave needs to be let go." The business owner responded. "If I fire Dave, my entire business will suffer." He explained. When Dave walks in, everyone smiles. Dave brings little gifts to coworkers randomly because he "was thinking about them." Dave is the reason we have monthly team-building exercises... He started those on his own. When an employee has an issue, they don't come to me. They go to Dave. Last year, when one of the women received a very unfortunate diagnosis. Dave helped raise 50 thousand dollars to support her through that tough time. Dave may not be "profitable" on paper. But without him, the company atmosphere loses its spark. Dave stays. The moral of the story is don't just look at your employees through the lens of a profit and loss sheet. #business #business2business #employeeexperience #leadership #leadershipdevelopment

After all, who wouldn't want a bigger paycheck? But Money is not everything- Priotize respect & employee health. I used to believe that the primary reason employees changed jobs was for more money. It seemed logical. However, through years of experience and countless conversations with team members, I've come to realize that the real currency they seek isn't just monetary. It's respect, work culture and mental peace. You see, money can provide temporary relief, but it's respect that nourishes the soul. It's the feeling of being valued, appreciated, and understood in the workplace that truly makes a difference. When employees feel respected, they're not just motivated – they're empowered to thrive. Similarly, mental peace is invaluable. In a world that's constantly buzzing with deadlines, targets, and expectations, finding a sense of tranquility amidst the chaos is priceless. It's about creating an environment where individuals feel safe, supported, and able to bring their whole selves to work without fear of judgment or burnout. As a leader, I've learned that building a culture of respect and prioritizing mental well-being isn't just good for morale – it's good for business. When employees feel respected and at peace, they're more engaged, productive, and loyal. They're willing to go the extra mile because they know their contributions are valued beyond a paycheck. So, to all my fellow entrepreneurs and leaders out there, let's remember that while money is important, it's not everything. Let's prioritize #employeeappreciation #employeehealth #employeewellbeing in our workplaces, creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and cherished. Because in the end, it's these intangible treasures that make all the difference in the world.
