Pride Month is a time to celebrate diversity and affirm everyone's right to live authentically without discrimination; it promotes positivity and equal rights for all. This year, like every year, we encourage our team to show their support in ways that feel meaningful to them. Inclusivity is a core value of our company, and we're committed to fostering an inclusive environment every day of the year. Here are some ways to get involved: ◾ Attend Pride Events: Join local parades, festivals, and celebrations to show solidarity and celebrate diversity. ◾ Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about LGBTQ+ history and issues through books, films, and conversations. Share your knowledge to promote acceptance and awareness. ◾ Support LGBTQ+ Organisations: Donate or volunteer with charities and groups that promote equality and provide community support. ◾ Advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights: Speak up, challenge discrimination, and support legislative changes. ◾ Show Support on Social Media: Use your platforms to share positive messages and resources, and use hashtags like #PrideMonth2024 and #LoveIsLove. Happy Pride Month everyone! 🏳️🌈 #Pride2024 #InclusionAtWork #PlayAsATeam #SBFMSocial

In 2010, a powerful global movement was sparked when LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies spoke three words that would echo hope and resilience — "it gets better." This simple yet profound message ignited a wildly successful social media campaign, with over 70,000 individuals sharing their stories to offer solace and encouragement to young members of the LGBTQ+ community. Today, It Gets Better stands as a prominent global non-profit organization, touching the lives of millions of young people annually. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity, and inclusivity, as well as highlight the ongoing fight for equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. We are proud to stand with and support the incredible work of Mermaids, a charity close to our hearts. Mermaids is dedicated to supporting transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families. We believe that embracing and empowering all members of the trans community is crucial for any organisation, regardless of the industry. This is why we are honoured to fund Mermaids’ local group activities, which create a safe space to celebrate and uplift the community. Jo and the Thornicroft family have felt the benefit of the amazing work of this charity first-hand. The care they have provided, and their unwavering support have been a huge help and immeasurable comfort in such a turbulent and troubled time. We strive to support them, as they have us, in the hope they will be able to continue their important work and care for other families just like ours. Mermaids also helps businesses to improve their support of LGBTQ+ employees and customers through essential resources and CPD-accredited training. If you're interested in learning more about Mermaids' training courses and how to foster a more inclusive environment within your organisation, check out the link here: Training - Mermaids (mermaidsuk.org.uk) #Mermaids #PrideMonth #Community #Inclusivity #Equality

Here at Vinted, we support a number of voluntary, employee-led communities that bring together individuals with shared identities, characteristics, or experiences. The very first community that got together was Queerted – a private space for Vinted employees who identify as LGBTQ+. The Queerted community, supported by Vinted, aims to create an environment where every employee at Vinted who identifies as LGBTQ+ can bring their full and authentic self to work. A few years ago, one of the community’s council members, Pim Blom, had reservations about joining the community: “Do I want my sexuality to interfere with my professional life? Having this exact doubt made it clear to me why, among other things, society needs a Pride month; because why can’t people be themselves in a work environment as well?” The community council is made up of Lloyd Constable, Alice Hutcheon, Pim Blom, and Janina Lodyga. Their community mission is two-fold: - To build a vibrant and inclusive community for LGBTQ+ members within Vinted, where everyone feels safe, supported, and celebrated. - To raise awareness of LGBTQ+ topics, and create a culture of acceptance and empathy within Vinted and beyond Read more about Queerted, and its goals and achievements in our blog post: https://lnkd.in/eBWbq2pm

🌈🏳️🌈 Today, we proudly celebrate National Coming Out Day, a day dedicated to fostering love, acceptance, and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community. Let's stand together, support each other, and create a world where everyone feels comfortable being their authentic selves. 🌈🏳️🌈 National Coming Out Day is also a day our youth will most likely come out! Here are 5 tips to support youth! You can follow to support a youth if they come out to you: ⭐️Thank the youth for trusting you in their coming out process. ⭐️Ask them what support they need. ⭐️Make sure to clarify the extent of their coming out. Just because they have come out to you does not mean they have come out to everyone. ⭐️Follow their lead. Do not ask too many personal questions or pry. This may be a difficult conversation for them to have. ⭐️Ask them what name or pronouns they prefer. Drop 🌈 in the comments to celebrate National Coming Out Day! #NationalComingOutDay #LoveIsLove #BeYourself

While Pride Month shines a light on diversity and inclusion, a common sight is companies sporting rainbow logos and limited-edition merchandise. This practice, known as "rainbow washing" or "pinkwashing," can have unintended consequences. Initially, widespread corporate support can feel validating for LGBTQ+ individuals. However, the realization that much of this support lacks substance can lead to feelings of betrayal, cynicism, and disappointment. Here's how we promote authenticity: 🌈 Look beyond the rainbow and assess companies' LGBTQ+ rights contributions 🌈 Encourage companies to be transparent about their efforts to create an inclusive workplace. 🌈 Advocate for resources flowing directly to LGBTQ+ organizations. Remember to support LGBTQ+ creators, donate to charities, and hold companies accountable always and not just during #Pride!
