Hiring salespeople? Forget the CV/Resume. Do this role play instead. I want you to imagine you work for ‘abc marketing’ as a sales rep. I made an inbound enquiry last week for someone to come to my premises, to talk to me about marketing because I’m in the market. You got the lead…this is the appointment. We’ve done the introductions. We’ve had coffee and talked about the weather…so it’s down to business. I want you to role play how you handle this scenario. If they talk about ‘solution’ in the first 10 minutes… Say thank you. You haven’t met the standard I’m looking for. You may re-apply at a future date and try again. There’s a common trend I’m seeing with some companies not hiring sales professionals right now because it’s really quiet around Dec, Jan time. Here’s why I think that’s wrong, and NOW is the perfect time to hire! - February will be here QUICK! Once it comes, targets, KPIs, sales will have to be generated. - On average it takes about 3-6 months to start seeing ROI from your new sales person. - During this “quiet time when everyone is partying and relaxed in corporate Australia” is the perfect time for your new salesperson to meet your clients in a relaxed environment and also get 100% up to speed with your product and service. - They can also catch up with their network in a relaxed environment take them out to lunchoens etc and introduce your product/service. - It’s a great time to get referrals and build a network when everyone is jolly and in a good mood. - So when Feb comes this person can hit the ground running and you start seeing ROI right away. I think this is the BEST time to hire a sales person! #sales #recruitment #ROI
