# Hyundai Milestones # "Reflecting on Hyundai's Remarkable Journey: From Humble Beginnings to Global Automotive Excellence As we look back at Hyundai's storied history, we can appreciate the company's steadfast commitment to innovation, quality, and pushing boundaries. From its origins as the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company in 1947 to establishing the Hyundai Motor Company in 1967, the brand has consistently evolved and adapted to changing market demands. One of the pivotal moments was the launch of the iconic Hyundai Pony in 1975, marking the company's entry into the automotive industry. This bold step paved the way for Hyundai's expansion into the U.S. market in 1986, showcasing its determination to compete on a global scale. Over the years, Hyundai has consistently raised the bar with groundbreaking achievements. The introduction of the "New Millennium, New Quality" focus in 1998 demonstrated the company's relentless pursuit of excellence, while the acquisition of Kia Motors further solidified its position as a major industry player. In 2004, the launch of the Genesis luxury brand highlighted Hyundai's commitment to innovation and pushing boundaries. This was followed by the introduction of the game changing Ioniq hybrid in 2020, cementing the company's dedication to sustainable mobility solutions. Most recently, Hyundai's commitment to future mobility was further underscored when the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was named the 2022 World Car of the Year, a testament to the brand's cutting-edge engineering and design prowess. As we celebrate Hyundai's remarkable journey, we are reminded of the company's unwavering spirit, resilience, and vision, which have propelled it to the forefront of the global automotive industry. Here's to many more groundbreaking achievements and milestones in the years to come!"

Front of the Meter Solar and Storage Power plants by day, behind the meter virtual power plant by night.
So it seems that vehicle to grid and wireless charging are pending the autonomous robotaxi electric vehicle revolution. With Solid state lithium ion batteries capable of 12,000 cycles before second life stationary storage applications, we are looking at the iPhone moment. Just as the iPhone was able to displace GPS, camera, phone, and music players, the wireless charging autonomous EV will combine people delivery, package delivery, data service, and electron delivery into a single device. Many people want to say, nah that won’t happen in my lifetime, but they neglect to mention they pay $300 / month auto lease, $100 for internet, $100 / utilities, $100 / month gas, $50 / month insurance, $100 month delivery. When an automaker is able to provide ride shares, and package deliveries, all while moving electricity from one microgrid to the other while not paying a driver, and saving consumers $100s of dollars per month, who is going to go with the default service? Especially when a car can choose the highest paying customer, which include undercutting power plants, distributed computing, taxi, and delivery services. This is a swift transition is powered by a huge cost cliff between cost of services and price of services as contracting markets reaches saturation. Mobile grid as a service in itself is revolutionary. Combine that with mobile data plans, and delivery, and we have disruptive change. Tony Seba’s predictions have been spot on even through COVID disruptions. Cheap, autonomous, electric vehicles are here. But what wasn’t called out in his 2016 analysis is its overlap with the power sector with bidirectional charging, or data sector with 5G connectivity. Which makes this change even more disruptive and lucrative.
