Fantastic panel yesterday at Corporate Directors Forum on Redefining Modern Boards through Diversity and Skills with Jessica N. Grounds, Dennis Arriola, John Driver, NACD.DC, Becky Petitt and Beth Sasfai. Key takeaways: 1. It’s not a pipeline problem, it’s a network problem. 2. Always approach a board seat opportunity with how can you make the board better and what value you can bring not how qualified you are. 3. As a Director, “ask, don’t task” when talking to the CEO/management team. Also “nose in (fiduciary responsibilities), fingers out” (don’t micromanage).
