At InsurTech NY March 20-21, speakers on panels shared insights on embedded insurance, underwriting innovation, and innovating during core systems upgrades. In embedded insurance, Brian Casey of Locke Lord LLP said the three key “buckets” for embedded insurance are product, distribution and technology. Gabriel Weiss, CEO and co-founder of XN Capital, said carriers looking for systems to embed should be careful about incentives being misaligned at point of sale. Charanjit Singh Saggu, director of underwriting innovation at Zurich North America, said working on underwriting issues first produced efficiencies to serve customers best and built relationships with customers. Roseanne Laudisio, CIO of NIP Group, said that for a core system to deliver value, it has to get to market quickly. Carriers must leverage insurtechs to augment systems during core systems upgrades, she added, and “you don’t want to have to build your own.” #InsurTechNY #insurtech #underwriting #embeddedinsurance
