Subcooled liquid hydrogen significantly increases the efficacy of hydrogen refueling systems. The requisite investment is sharply lower, and operational costs can be reduced by up to 80%. This and associated technology make sLH2 a practical CO₂ neutral alternative to diesel within the heavy duty truck sector, and should serve to accelerate the development of a robust refueling network, essential to proliferate vehicles on the road, keep supply chains stable, and further decarbonize freight.

Keltbray is trialling hydrogen fuel cell technology to test the benefits using fuel cell technology to power the construction on our M621 j1-7 major improvement scheme. Having extended the trial to over 6 months, they have also committed to sharing learning from the trial with National Highways and our wider supply chain. This trial is targeting the emissions from our maintenance and construction activity which led to over 700,000 tonnes of CO2e in 2020. Heavy duty transport must lower their emissions and green / sustainable H2 is - beside BEV e.g. for inner-city transports - ONE way to push the mobility transition for road transport in Europe. The current signals by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) in Germany to stop crucial funding schemes and "downgrade" the relevance of green hydrogen in the mobility sector is the wrong signal for all involved stakeholders, such as vehicle manufacturers, forwarding companies, project developers and (potential) HRS operators! #mobilitytransition #verkehrswende #h2infrastructure #FCEV #greenhydrogen
