TotalEnergies Has Texas Clearly in Its Sights 🌍🔋 TotalEnergies has been active in Texas for nearly 70 years, establishing a robust presence in the state. The strategy focuses on two main areas: Oil & Gas (mainly liquefied natural gas, LNG) and electricity (Integrated Power). Texas, the second-largest state in the U.S. by surface area and population (30 million), consumed nearly 445 TWh of electricity in 2022. The Texas electricity market is the second largest in the U.S. and is expected to grow at a rate of 2% per year. To provide customers with 24/7, increasingly carbon-free electricity, TotalEnergies is developing a portfolio of renewable assets (4 GW) and gas-fired plants (1.5 GW) in Texas, including battery-based storage systems (300 MW installed). ⚡���� Changing the Energy Landscape in Houston 🌇🔋 Houston is a pivotal hub for the energy industry, traditionally known for oil and gas. However, TotalEnergies is transforming the landscape with renewable energies. Between 2019 and 2021, Houston doubled its solar capacity. Olivia Topete, Project Manager - Renewables, TotalEnergies: “When the sun isn’t shining, the solar panels don’t produce as much electricity, so to overcome that problem, storage batteries supplied by Saft have been installed for the projects.” Danish Fields: TotalEnergies’ Largest Solar Power Plant in the U.S. 🇺🇸🌞 Located just a few miles from Houston, the Danish Fields solar power plant, set to be commissioned in the summer of 2024, spans nearly 2,000 hectares. It boasts a capacity of 720 MW, supplemented by 150 MW of battery-based storage systems. Given the intermittent nature of solar and wind energy, battery-based storage is crucial for ensuring a stable electricity supply to the grid, regardless of the weather or time of day. The Danish Fields site houses 114 battery containers developed by Saft, which store and supply electricity when the sun isn’t shining or at night. 🌗🔋 Solar Energy to Decarbonize Industrial Activities 🌞🏭 Industrial customers are assisted in their net zero strategies by offering a range of tailored solutions, including power purchase agreements (PPAs) for renewable electricity. These agreements enable the energy produced from renewable facilities to be injected into the power grid and supplied to the customer, with guarantees of origin certifying the electricity’s source. In 2023, a 15-year renewable PPA was signed with Saint-Gobain. Danish Fields plays a key role in this partnership, supplying renewable electricity to Saint-Gobain’s 125 North American sites, thereby helping reduce the building materials company’s carbon emissions on the continent by 90,000 tons annually. 🌍📉

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Energy Efficiency Fundamentals from Schneider Electric! During this course I learned the following: 1- Energy importance and energy dilemma 2- Why energy efficiency is the solution for energy dilemma 3- What is energy efficiency and types including passive and active energy efficiency. 4- All types of energy including water, gas, electricity, steam, compressed air ...etc. 5- Major systems that consumes energy in the industry. 6- Ways to applying energy efficiency in these systems. 7- Four steps for energy efficiency (Energy Audit and Measures - Fix the basics - Automate - Monitor and Improve) 8- Getting the approval on energy efficiency projects through conducting financial analysis by calculating ROI, Payback, and IRR, and showing all advantages of the project including GHG reduction. Excited to learn more the field of energy efficiency, and be able to apply what I am learning to the real world! 💚

I just completed the Renewable Energy Specialization from the University of Colorado Boulder on Coursera. Throughout the 4-course program, I immersed myself in the principles, dynamics, and challenges of the renewable energy market as a crucial commodity. This growth market holds significant importance in the current economic and global scenario, particularly in the context of decarbonization efforts. Additionally, I explored financial modeling for renewable energy projects and examined the future prospects of this vital industry.

It's excellent to see the rapid rate at which the RNG space is developing in the U.S. The launch of the 'Cummins inc. X15N' NG engine will only exacerbate this progress and companies produce more RNG to meet the increased demand. One important step closer to the decarbonization of transport in the U.S.
