🚨 New team member alert: Aline 🚨 We're excited to welcome Aline Brede, who joined us as an intern in May. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, but came all the way back to Munich to support us for some months! From finances to event planning, to re-branding activities, she enjoys taking on work in many different fields. We are glad to have her dynamic energy on board. Outside of work, Aline enjoys playing golf ⛳️, being in the first Bundesliga team, and running 🏃🏻♀️. 👋 Let's give Aline a warm welcome!

GYA is delighted to congratulate Amigos de las Americas (AMIGOS) on their recent RE-accreditation as an outstanding gap year program provider. From the outside, re-accreditation might seem like a breeze for an already-accredited program. On the contrary, GYA makes significant updates to the Accreditation Standards every four years, and it requires an equal amount of rigor and commitment for a program provider to demonstrate that they have: 1) made a meaningful effort to improve systems that met previous standards since their last accreditation, and 2) current evidence that meets or exceeds the substantial number of new/updated standards. By achieving re-accreditation, program providers demonstrate that they have not only met GYA's Standards, but that they are committed to running a dynamic organization that evolves and responds to the constantly shifting needs of gap year students and the gap year field. We're thrilled to continue counting AMIGOS as one of GYA's accredited gap year program providers! Amigos de las Americas (AMIGOS) invites gap year students to live, study, and work in cities across Latin America in powerful international experiences that include authentic language and cultural immersion, homestays with local families, and meaningful internship opportunities. I had the pleasure of recently speaking at the Euroleague Basketball MBA programme in Berlin. Thanks again to Miguel Ferreira and Vincenzo Di Giuseppe for the kind invitation. Here were my three career takeaways from the chat. 1. On Patience and Obsession: "You need to be a bit obsessive. Everyone can tell you to follow your passion and find your dream quickly, but the truth is, it’s very difficult. You'll need patience, and it will take time. This doesn't sell books or dreams in the short term, but it’s the old-fashioned story that holds true." 2. On Consistency: "Consistency beats intensity. It’s not about being intensely focused for a short burst; it’s about making small, manageable changes and doing them consistently over a long period. The real competitive advantage is the ability to do something for 10 minutes a day for one year—something almost no one can sustain." 3. On Building Relationships: "When you’re trying to build a relationship with someone, get them to talk about themselves. People love speaking about themselves. Ask open-ended questions and listen. The power of listening is massively undersold. Start with one relationship, one interaction, and then scale it to many. This fundamentally changes your approach to how you deal with people on a day-to-day basis." https://lnkd.in/eQYwV2xf
