The representation of women varies significantly by field. Life sciences and health-related fields tend to have higher participation rates of women, sometimes achieving parity or surpassing men in numbers. I was a fan of Marie Curie since I was a child. More recently, i have been absolutely enamored by the finest medical doctors in the profession from Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Argentina, Venezuela, Bangladesh and parts of Pakistan and India who migrated as asylum seekers to the United States to escape wars and tyranny in the countries in which they were born. The one who survived the devastation and raping in Homs, Syria immediately comes to mind. I am also absolutely enamored by US indigenous tribal women doctors who I've found are unbelievable in achieving things with the almost absence of the items they need. Kudos to these women of science and others in STEM fields and R&D. We REALLY CAN USE THEIR EXPERTISE. We have a shortage of such talent and with an aging society we need them desperately. It's too bad the politicians and super-wealthy conservatives financing today's GOP are so politically opposed to doing what would be best for our country and our people’s lives and future.
