If recycling is "overrated" or "not effective," why would Kraft Heinz and AVINTIV a Berry Plastics Company be rolling out this innovative new cap? Because RECYCLING IS REAL, and it works (PLASTICS (Plastics Industry Association) – Recycling is Real series). The point is... when the big players are involved, it would be wise for others to "take notice." 100% curbside recyclable materials are available right now... CURBSIDE... not return to store or some convoluted collection scheme. Imagine dog food, cat litter, coffee, tea, liquids in pouches that can not only withstand temperature swings to extremes but also provide barrier properties and protection. Then, you can simply throw the empty packaging away in your normal recycling bin for trash collection. Impossible? Too good to be true? Nonsense... it's happening right now. The problem is, many packaging resellers aren't aware and fail to carry the message across the finish line. Here are some pictures... Recycling works... and Recycling is real. https://hubs.li/Q02pP8gm0? https://hubs.li/Q02pP6qz0

Plastics News published an op-ed this week I wrote about adopting post-consumer recyled resin as a path to sustainable packaging, and what we did with a customer to roll it out across their product line. But it’s also a plea. Everyone seems to want sustainability but for free. That model doesn’t work. It won’t come for free, it won’t produce immediate economic growth (the opposite it appears) but we have no choice. Bag bans will multiply unless we move. The grocers bear some responsibility fighting for zero cost increases. I can’t replicate this experiment across all of my accounts, but where I can I will. Thanks to the good folks at PN for publishing. #sustainability #sustainablepackaging #plasticsindustry #flexiblepackaging #emeraldpackaging #pcr

Snack-size packaging is convenient for our busy lives, but it also contributes to waste in our environment. It's great to see major brands making an effort to cut waste and eliminate the use of fossil-based plastics in their packaging. However, we need to ask if they're also looking back at their #supplychain to the #paperproduction. With #enzymes, the #paperindustry can #replacechemicals with #biosolutions, reducing their overall energy footprint and strengthening the quality of recovered fibers for more paper to be recycled. Let's continue to push for #biosolutions for packaging and production of paper and board. #sustainability #packaging #environment #Novonesis #Novozymes #pulpandpaper

Every day, we are seeing more and more articles like this: https://lnkd.in/eP378PXt The world is shifting from plastic to paper packaging, much of which is food-contact packaging that cannot be processed in traditional recycling routes ♻️ FIBERIGHT LIMITED’s HYDRACYCLE technology is the solution; recovering paper/card from contaminated sources for use in new applications including pulp moulding or bio-based sugars. As industries strive for eco-friendly alternatives, Fiberight remains a beacon of versatility, addressing the challenges of diverse waste streams and moving towards our goal of achieving the 'The End of Waste' 🌎 #TheEndofWaste #circulareconomy #Biobasedsugar #packaging #foodpackaging #plastic #plasticpackaging #waste #environment #pulp #innovation

Recyclable mono layer cheese film has been out for awhile, but a high barrier with puncture resistance is new! Seeing innovation in this space makes me wonder, when will the US approve monolayer cheese film for in-store drop off? Does the minimal residue in the empty pouch really impact recycling? Or is that residue washed off during the washing process? #H2R #recyclablepackaging https://lnkd.in/gVdi2niG

After SÜDPACK Group was visited by Josef Rief, a member of the Bundestag for the Biberach electoral district, on June 19 to learn more about a circular economy in the plastics industry, the same topic brought Norbert Lins to the site on July 17. The main topics at the core of the spirited debate at SÜDPACK’s headquarters in Ochsenhausen included design for recycling, the use of recyclates in film production and chemical recycling as a complementary recycling technology. #sustainablepackaging #recyclability #packaging #sustainability #circulareconomy #recycledmaterials #resourceefficiency

Faerch expands operations with new plant in the Netherlands to embrace circularity in rigid food packaging - According to analysts, approximately 400,000 tonnes and 106 billion pieces of rigid food packaging inundate the global market every year, with a vast majority (90%) ending up in landfills or being incinerated. This highlights the pressing need for handling recyclable plastic packaging material to prevent environmental damage. In response to... - https://lnkd.in/ee-6FDCh

We’re pleased to announce a brand-new round of supply chain trials to drive confidence in the use of post-consumer recycled content in the manufacture of new products. The trials, delivered by WRAP Cymru and funded by Welsh Government, will demonstrate the economic and environmental benefits of recycled materials in products, such as reducing reliance on virgin materials. Working in collaboration with a range of partners, the following trials will begin: Trial 1: Working with delivery partner Nextek, and businesses Fiberight, Ecodek, MBA and their parent company EMR, this trial seeks to demonstrate that waste plastic materials with no existing end-market can be used in high-performance building products. The work will also focus on creating markets for complex material from end of life vehicles, large domestic appliances, and packaging. Trial 2: Alongside delivery partner Resilience Sustainable Solutions, this trial is investigating the feasibility of increasing volumes of post-consumer recycled content and establishing a closed loop recycling system for aggregate bags. This project is being carried out in conjunction with Tarmac, Berry Global, GEA, and Cardiff University. WRAP’s work to support businesses in Wales has global impact. A previous trial with Vernacare developed sharps containers made from up to 100% recycled content that are now used by the NHS and healthcare facilities around the globe. Find out more about the new trials, and what was achieved in previous trials, here: https://lnkd.in/dbBxZr-5 #RecycledContent #CircularEconomy #Plastic
