Carbios and L'Oréal have clinched the Pioneer Award for the world's first enzymatically recycled #cosmetic bottle. 🌐💄 Carbios claims that a highly selective #enzyme, optimized for efficient #PET degradation, can process all types of PET waste, including colored, multilayer or #textile waste that cannot be recycled using current technologies. Vidia’s Plastic Recycling Platform PolymerCycle acquires BPM   We are thrilled to share our initial platform investment in the plastic recycling space, aiming to rapidly scale the supply of high-quality regranulates to replace high-emission virgin plastic.     Vidia Climate Fund I has acquired specialized plastic recycling company Best Plastic Management GmbH (BPM) through newly established PolymerCycle GmbH. BPM’s succession situation and organic as well as inorganic scale-up potential in combination with its superior CO2 avoidance fully match our investment strategy of maximizing both impact and financial return.   The family-run business specializes in the disposal and recycling of post-industrial plastic waste. At their site near Bremen, Germany, BPM currently generates output of 20,000 metric tons of recycled material per year. With our operational support and the necessary capital, we now aim to increase BPM’s capacity to up to 60,000 metric tons p.a., resulting in CO2 emission avoidance of well over 3,000 tons p.a., per million euro invested. Through selected additional acquisitions by the PolymerCycle platform, a further diversification of waste streams with a simultaneous increase in internal value add is targeted.   "This acquisition represents a milestone for our plastic recycling strategy," says Johanna Struthmann, Founding Partner of Vidia."
