The "ICF Credentialing Exam" is something that a lot of coaches dread. And it's understandable why. 2 years ago ICF transitioned from the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) to the latest Credentialing Exam (ICE). The CKA tested the coaches' knowledge of the ICF Code of Ethics and Core Competencies The ICE is assessing the coaches on their application of ICF Code of Ethics and Core Competencies in real coaching situations. CKA - tests the theoretical knowledge. ICE - tests the practical knowledge. And this is why the exam is very challenging. Since September 2023, I have been running small cohorts to support coaches in preparing for the ICE. I'm starting my 5th cohort on the 20th of June. Here's what the participants will takeaway. 1. In-depth ICF Code of Ethics: - Gain a thorough understanding of the ICF Code of Ethics and Core Principles for professional conduct. 2. Mastery of Core Competencies: - Achieve a deep understanding of ICF Core Competencies to enhance coaching effectiveness. 3. Practical Exam Preparation: - Engage with 60 exam-like questions to build confidence and practical experience. 4. The value of certified accreditation can not be under estimated, and I recommend this level of training to every experienced coach looking to understand their own practice at a deeper level.

How do we grow as coaches? I have learned that it takes more than time and experience to mature as a coach - and that this too is an ongoing journey.  Coach training is normally the starter pack. We then add to our skills with further reading, programmes and (perhaps) an accreditation or two. But where do the mindshifts take place that enable us to become masterful? I believe that supervision is the most practical forum where this happens. I have four small (limited to 5 coaches each) supervision groups starting in March and April. These will be opportunities for members to bring dilemmas and challenges they may be experiencing in their sessions or practices, for discussion with the group facilitated by me as supervisor - dilemmas like: - ethical challenges where you are unsure how to proceed or doubt your actions; - where a client or supervisee has left you doubting your effectiveness or wondering how you might have done something differently; and - perhaps struggling to find your sense of self or identify a blind spot. I often get asked “why do coaches get accredited?” I’m currently going through the process, read on to understand why. I also have space for 2 people to access affordable coaching while I go through this next stage of my coaching development. Details at the bottom. This might be useful for people job hunting, recently made redundant or desperate for change! 1️⃣. Professional Recognition: Accreditation adds credibility and legitimacy to a coach's qualifications. It demonstrates that they have met the standards set by a reputable governing body and have attained a certain level of expertise in coaching. 2️⃣. This ensures that coaches conduct themselves ethically and maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and client-centeredness while providing coaching services. 6️⃣. Professional Accountability: Accreditation requires coaches to meet specific standards and undergo a review process. This promotes accountability and encourages coaches to maintain a high level of quality in their coaching practice.
