Englobe UK Senior Management Team are hands on and proactive in visiting our sites, projects, and soil treatment facilities to support colleagues and the work in progress. Our commitment to safe working procedures and the welfare of our staff are paramount. At this site near Cheltenham Englobe UK were commissioned as the Design and Build Contractor to implement ground contamination remediation works at this former #Gasworks. Various phases of investigations and demolition works had been undertaken at the site and contamination was present along with remnant in-ground foundations/obstructions associated with former gasholders and infrastructure. Based on the remediation options appraisal and assessment of all available historic site investigation data, Englobe UK determined the Best Practicable Technique for the remediation to render the site suitable for a commercial/open storage end use. To facilitate these works, wider works including service disconnection (gas, electric and telecoms), ecological assessments, bat emergence surveying, bat box placement under license, building asbestos removal (licensed) and historic building demolition were required. Balfour Beatty and Costain are among a clutch of contractors to have secured work on Teesside to build the world’s first gas-fired power station with carbon capture. Clients Net Zero Teesside Power and the Northern Endurance Partnership have selected contractors for engineering, procurement, and construction contracts with a combined value of around £4bn. Nine leading specialist contractors will share eight contract packages subject to a final investment decision due to be taken before September. Balfour Beatty is main construction partner to deliver the combined-cycle power station, integrated with carbon capture plant. It will utilise modular construction techniques to build the M&E equipment and plant rooms off-site, in a controlled factory setting. Costain will oversee and manage the engineering procurement and construction of the onshore CO2 gathering system serving the East Coast Cluster of industrial companies. The projects present a big opportunity for the UK supply chain. Selected contractors will continue working with the local and regional supply chain, with further engagement taking place over the coming weeks and months. Ian Hunter, Managing Director, Net Zero Teesside Power, said: “The selection of contractors is a major step forward for Net Zero Teesside Power. We have selected world-class partners who have the experience and capability needed to deliver. We aim to take final investment decision in September 2024 or before, after which we’d look forward to working with our EPC partners through the construction phase”. The transport infrastructure boom of the last decade holds some valuable lessons for market participants in tackling the planning, procurement and delivery of the record number of complex infrastructure projects ultimately required to enable the #energytransition. Adaptability: Navigating Diverse Project Requirements 🦺My journey in the geospatial field has been marked by adaptability, underscored by two distinct project experiences that demanded different facets of management and problem-solving. 1/ In my initial role, I was assigned to an Oil & Gas project 🏗️where the client had meticulously outlined every detail, from the project study to design deliverables. In this scenario, my primary responsibilities revolved around managing time, conducting surveys, data preparation for setting out, team management, reporting, and adhering to the client's stringent regulations. 2/ Upon transitioning to a new project with a different client and a shift in nature to urban construction 🏘️, I encountered a contrasting scenario. The project's study was considerably lacking, presenting numerous challenges. 💡In response, I took the initiative to revamp certain aspects of the study, including site leveling plans, cable trench layouts, paving plans, fire detection system and network layouts, as well as drainage systems. 💎These diverse experiences have sharpened my adaptability, demonstrating my ability to thrive in varying circumstances through hard work and unwavering dedication. 📸: 2018, Boosting phase III facility 📍Hassi R'mal, Algeria🇩🇿. #adaptability #geospatialsolutions #oilandgasindustry #civilengineering
