The success we are experiencing in our entrepreneurial community here in Utah is impressive, but is not something we should take for granted. As a community we have worked hard over many years to build and sustain our entrepreneur ecosystem with capital, services and support. One of the questions I often wake up with is what can we do to take Utah to the next level? I believe there are many things we can and should do as a community to take Utah's tech economy to the next level— One of the fundamentals in Utah's startup success is maintaining our focused support for Utah's Founders.
Each year for the past 23 years I have participated in, or supported an initiative to identify and shine the light on the top entrepreneurs in various regions around the world. Together with my various business partners we have created the V100 (Utah), E100 (Monterrey & Guadalajara Mexico) E100 Lima Peru, Arequipa Peru, WIN100 Utah and now the Founder 100 in Utah. I will admit, as an investor in the early days my participation was selfishly motivated, as I was hoping to identify and invest into the best talent. Over the years my motivation matured into just wanting to help connect the top entrepreneurs to the capital and resources they need to succeed. I have found great joy in watching Utah win together.
Here is a small thing you can do to help Utah's entrepreneurs. Please take a minute to nominate a founder that you know that investors and the community needs to know and support. The theory is to get our support and energy behind the top teams that are about to break out.
This first stage of voting is crowd nominated. After we collect all of the nominations, the next round of voting will be peer selected. You can nominate up to ten founders that you believe should be recognized in a list of Utah's 100 top founders.
Thank you to all of Utah's venture funds, sponsors and service providers for getting behind this initiative. The extensive collaboration and support of the Utah venture community for many of Utah's founders is truly impressive. Thank Jon Bradshaw and Peter Harris, co-founders of Venture Capital Podcast, who are carrying this torch forward on this Founder 100 program and for creating this new recognition initiative for Utah’s entrepreneurs.
Please go to TechBuzz news home page for the voting link. I will also put one down below.
