EDEKA CEO refers to Allianz-Trade market study finding "excessive profit-taking" by food manufacturers a noticeable contribution to food inflation last year. EDEKA applying various emergency strategies in order to keep shelves full including partnership with leading Swiss retailer Migros-Gruppe / Groupe Migros / Migros and introducing new and alternative brands. ————————— Maintaining diversified branded portfolio should not be just an emergency act but ongoing strategy that allows for better retail autonomy. Retailers can’t blame leading brands for their financial priorities. Fair or not - pricing is their own right to decide. What retailers can control is merchandising and building assortments. Not just a stop ship campaign. Usually stop ship is unsustainable, retroactive with short term impact. Breaking News: Genossenschaft Migros Aare's myMigros online supermarket discontinuation!! Migros Aare has halted its myMigros online supermarket project launched in 2019, aiming to redefine online grocery shopping. Despite innovation, financial sustainability wasn't realized, leading to the project's end by September. Migros Aare shifts focus to Migros Online (formerly LeShop.ch ;-) ), impacting around 130 employees directly. Alternative solutions within their network are being sought. 140 notime AG / notime (Schweiz) AG drivers are affected. syndicom - Gewerkschaft Medien und Kommunikation union aims to minimize impact. Initiated under Anton Gäumann, as a parallel online supermarket initiative to the existing national one, myMigros advanced online grocery shopping as a regional initiative. However, profitability expectations were unmet. This decision highlights Migros Online's evolution since LeShop.ch acquired MİGROS first eGrocery initiative “MİGROS-Shop” back end 2003, to sell it back to MİGROS after its turnover jumped from 35mio to 150mio under the leadership of the online startup pioneers in 2008. Regretfully, myMigros ends abruptly. Merging all MIGROS e-grocer initiatives (LeShop, myMigros) gradually and earlier could have been visionary, avoiding internal rivalry and customer confusion. And the most convenient way to bring them home is with one of the EINFACH MEHRWEG containers available at the point of sale. And of course once you've enjoyed your food you simply return the container at the reverse vending machine at any REWE. Interesting fact: people choose bulk sales not only to prevent packaging waste, but also to prevent food waste. You buy only what you need 💡 Congrats to Pia Schnück for the clear explanation.
