#Thailand Surveyed migrants from Myanmar cite supporting family tasks, lack of documentation, and distance as barriers to sending secondary-aged girls to school. Stressing the need to support more participation in education. This factsheet aims to provide a snapshot of multi-sectoral conditions, needs, and challenges among Myanmar migrants in Tak province as captured between October and December 2023 by IOM Thailand’s multi-sectoral assessment of needs. This assessment aims to provide insights regarding the severity of needs among migrant populations, identify vulnerable population groups and geographic areas with the most acute needs, inform assistance planning and relevant Sustainable Development Goals targets, and provide sectoral and inter-sectoral baselines for future assessments. https://lnkd.in/gbFuhykT #data4action

Non-Profit Leader I Strategic Partnerships, CEO, COO, Board & Country Director I Because Leadership is Activism
So what is localization...really? In this (absolute 💎 of a) blog, Donnah Midigo of Universal Intervention and Development Organization(UNIDOR-South Sudan) lays it out: "Deep & meaningful relationships ...transcend programmatic collaboration to create self-reliant communities that can sustainably solve their own problems." On complementarity, she notes: 💎 Local partners offer knowledge, credibility, community trust & access 💎 International partners offer global platforms to be seen & heard, and the ability to mobilize resources globally This isn't about training, friends. This is about mutual support & meaningful relationships. 💎 Leadership collaboration 💎 Strength in numbers on advocacy & policy 💎 Access to consortia & networks 💎 Technical support (e.g. media/comms expertise) 💎 Supporting local partners to operate to intl compliance standards (ahd access global funding) At the end of the day, Donnah makes clear why these types of meaningful partnerships must be the starting point of #internationaldevelopment and #humanitarian work: "To thrive and achieve more together than ... as separate entities" I'm proud that Save the Children works with brilliant partners like Donnah and UNIROR. The Charter4Change (C4C) https://lnkd.in/dipNqGfX convened its 2022 Global Annual Meeting virtually on January 24th - 26th 2023. Over the years their has been an increased momentum on conversations about decolonization of aid within the network and beyond. This was showcased in the discussions , where representatives from grassroot organisations ,NGOs and INGOs exchanged ideas on the barriers to transformative change, and practical steps required to address them. From the various discussions it was agreed that the dialogue should not be restricted to international and national NGOs but should reach the grass roots The Communique highlights Five key priorities for 2023: 1.Shifting conversations from the global to country level 2.A call for a more harmonized, proportionate and simplified international compliance and due diligence architecture to make it more feasible for smaller community-based, grassroots and people centered LNGOs to navigate and thrive in the international humanitarian system. 3.Flexible multiyear funding 4.Strengthening C4C’s collaboration with like-minded initiatives on localization to maximize efforts for transformative change See the full version here: English version: https://lnkd.in/dxhfivrz French version: c4c-2023-communique-french.pdf (wordpress.com) #localization #shifting power to local organizations.

InsightShare and Opportunity International UK used Participatory Video (PV) to complement and enhance other data collection methods Opportunity International UK and partners were using for their monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems. PV gathers qualitative data that often escapes traditional monitoring and evaluation tools, and promotes peer-to-peer learning to influence programme design. The process of monitoring and evaluating generally serves two primary purposes: - to improve the delivery and impact of programmes - and to promote accountability by learning from past successes and mistakes. Participatory monitoring and evaluation recognises that to obtain information and learning that genuinely reflects programme impact, the people who have had first-hand experiences of the programme must play a central role in the process, define their own measures of success, and assess whether a programme responds appropriately to the real-life aspirations of the community. 🔄 Participatory methodologies promote a positive cycle of sharing, learning, reflecting, and transforming. ✨ After training the international and local staff, as well as community members with an active role in the programmes, local evaluation teams used Participatory Video combined with Most Significant Change (PV MSC) to support participatory storytelling in baseline and mid-term review (for the refugee programme).
