On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas with the news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free—two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day came to be known as #Juneteenth. Panagora proudly recognizes #Juneteenth as an important day of remembrance, celebration, and resilience. On this day we also acknowledge there is still much work ahead to achieve equity and justice for Black Americans, an effort that makes our world a better place for everyone. As Fannie Lou Hammer said, “Nobody’s Free Until Everybody’s Free.” Learn more from Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture: https://lnkd.in/gqvPZFF If you are in the D.C., Virginia, or Maryland area, explore the many ways to celebrate Juneteenth this year: https://lnkd.in/eF6TnN6b
