Evolve, or adapt?
In reality, we probably need a little bit of both.

I'll be expanding on this in two presentations forthcoming, providing context for and revealing where a tiny unfilled crack in the intervention space allows the layperson to take advantage of extensions of the modern technical diving paradigm, via low-cost portable habitation - a gift of time for everyone and already enabling day+ long excursions within routinely encountered depths.
