 Snapping hip can be caused by various factors, including muscular imbalances, tightness or weakness in certain muscles, repetitive hip movements (such as running or dancing), structural abnormalities in the hip joint, and previous hip injuries.     Treatment for snapping hip usually involves conservative measures such as rest, activity modification, and physical therapy to address any underlying muscle imbalances or weaknesses. In some cases, corticosteroid injections may be used to reduce inflammation and pain. Conversion of Bilateral SCFE with severe femoral malrotation to THA This patient (consented to post & video) was referred with history of bilateral SCFE insitu pinning, ~70 degree fixed external rotation deformity in both legs (check out the knee profile on the before/after standing films). She was non-ambulatory other than for transfers pre-op. Her hips were so stiff the referral read "auto-fusion of bilateral hips". She is now over 1 year out from staged THA utilizing non-modular tapered fluted stems. She is a superstar, lost 80 lbs to prior surgery and has lost another 90 lbs since, almost unrecognizable seeing her walk around clinic completely unassisted. I am thrilled we could get her rotation sorted out, I have also seen rotational corrections result in recurrent dislocation. How do you determine how much rotation you can dial back through THA? Trialing was a key part in this case and I used a stem that I could adjust as needed right off the bat. Thoughts on modular vs non-modular Wagner type stems? 👣 The surgical method for HALLUX RIGIDUS depends on the severity of the condition: 1️⃣ Mild joint degeneration - i.e. bony growths (osteophytes) on the upper surface of the metatarsal head, mechanically limiting the dorsal flexion of the big toe: ✔ Cheilectomy - cutting off the upper 1/3 of the metatarsal head along with osteophytes, ✔ Additional procedures - I metatarsal shortening osteotomy (joint decompression), Moberg osteotomy (additional improving the big toe's dorsiflexion). 2️⃣ Advanced osteoarthritis - damaged cartilage, bone-on-bone contact: ✔Arthrodesis - MTP joint fusion. This method does not significantly affect the quality of gait and it is technically a relatively simple procedure with lower risks of complications compared to endoprosthesis. Due to these reasons, we still consider arthrodesis the preferred treatment for severe hallux rigidus. ✔ MTP joint endoprosthesis -> allows for maintaining big toe mobility. The goal of artificial cervical disc replacement surgery is to relieve pain and maintain motion, reduce further degeneration in the spine, and allow people to return to activities quickly.
