Last week Orbit Fab's Jacob Geer signed the European Space Agency - ESA Zero Debris Charter in Berlin. We are proud to be among the first companies who have signed their commitment to sustainable space operations .
📃 The Charter contains a series of guidelines and targets, both technical and high-level, which will help us get to "net zero" debris. Here at Orbit Fab we know we need to act responsibly to build a bustling orbital economy for decades to come. These co-developed principles will help guide how we design our future refuelling infrastructure.
🛰 As part of the charter ESA are looking at what technology is needed to meet their internal push to debris-neutral by 2030. We are looking forward to working with the ESA Space Safety Programme on this, including potentially how to develop our RAFTI refuelling port to reduce single-use satellites.
🔢 So far 42 companies and 12 nations have signed up the charter, with more expected soon. It is a pleasure to work with like-minded companies, in the Europe and beyond, to make space sustainability a reality.
