Are all Chinese becoming professional foodies .. and/or professional photographers ? 😋Videos of food delicacies and drinks flood Chinese social media : Talk about incredible , visually catching and surprising desserts, drinks, plating … ✨At the same time luxury brands keep leveling up their foodie experience : Dior cafe , Ralph Lauren, Loewe, Fendi…but also To Summer, Tamburins : where is the next spot in town to feel, touch, smell, and take the right selfies ? I was passing by the Tamburins new shop in Shanghai by 3rd of May ( aka during the holidays). It was all about looong lines to get into the store, and once (finally) in there, take the right selfies. Result? By 16:30, the lines were still there, but staff was warning the crowd that the shop was out of stock, hence stopping the sales for the day . What do you think happened ? Youngsters didn’t leave the line, at all; because what they wanted was still there : an incredible stage for selfies… 👉 My take ? What’s your latest initiative to have youngsters come into your store ? World Tourism Day at Work and bring out my inner Kadazan-Dusun. Kadazan-Dusun (also written as Kadazandusun or Mamasok Kadazan-Dusun) is an amalgamation of the two closely related indigenous peoples in Borneo, Sabah, Malaysia, which are the Kadazan and Dusun people. Kadazandusun is the largest ethnic group in the state. Many have wondered why the Kadazan-Dusun’s have chosen black as the colour for their traditional costumes, as it is a very sombre colour. After an interview I had with some relatives from Sabah, they explained that the colour was not chosen specifically; it was out of necessity, as in the past, the fruits and vegetables their ancestors used to extract dye, in which they only extracted dark hues and therefore settled with the colour black. To add colour, the Kadazan-Dusun people donned accessories that were gold and silver in colour, which are most of the time heirlooms passed down from generation to generation. As for the men, their traditional costume is almost similar to that of the ladies. The black long-sleeved shirt (Gaung) is decorated with gold trimming and gold buttons. The black trousers worn with the shirt are called souva, which also has gold details and trimmings. The men also traditionally don black waist sashes (kaking or toogot). The unique aspect of the men's costume is that they are to wear headgear made out of woven dastar cloth that is folded and twisted in many ways that leave only a small corner of the cloth sticking out. These costumes have retained much of their original design and colour and have not been influenced by many changes over the years.
